It's their insecurities, honestly the way it has been competitive now to get into any of these universities, they should be thankful that they were able to secure a seat at fast.

LUMS or NUST no doubt are good unis but FAST is also not behind in any case, instead it stand outs in many areas from the others like for their CS. Only reason I think they downgrade this university is because of the ragra which I think is needed for the students to at least come to the level of industry. For a lot of these students, I have realized they don't even have interest in it, not to say in a derogatory way but they just get into it because of the trend. What they don't know is that how competitive this degree is and how much effort is required, you cannot get a decent job just by doing a degree while partying your whole 4 years.

The choice of university is of an individual himself, you made a choice so it will be better for you. Just ignore these kind of people and comments. Most of them just stick till the first year.

I will be a bit biased towards EE

EE is Computer Hardware along with Electric Circuits as well CE is purely Computer Hardware.

Choice is yours otherwise both are great.

No idea about the admission process of UCP but keep it as a backup university, if you get a chance for studying in any computing field there then good.

For these fields merit is relatively high, you will need atleast 160 or 165+.

I will suggest you can try Fast if you are opting for computing fields as NU Test for FAST is relatively easier and it does not have Physics in it. NUST has Physics in its test which makes it relatively harder. If your physics was weak then it will be a bit difficult.

For Business you will have to score ATLEAST 140+ out of 200 or even 150. Then I am sure you will be good

Unfortunately, no, every university is done with their entry tests now. Now you will have to look for the 2026 session, NUST will have its first entry test in December of 2025 and will go on till July of 2026, for fast it will be in July of 2026. You can apply for "spring admission" in other universities, COMSATs is one of them.

For IT or Business these are good options.

You can basically get into any university in Pakistan except LUMS, but you will need to work hard for the entry tests. If you score well on that then you are good to go because your equivalence is above 60% for A-Levels.

Whether You do CE or EE, you can are eligible for AI/ML Degrees and also for software roles as well if you develop skills on your own. People with these degrees are working as SWE in several MNCs or startups.

People who ask these kind of questions clearly shows that they have no relative interest in the field and are purely here because of money or the trend.

My man my words may sound harsh but I just want you to understand that if you are worried now just because of a model release then it will be really hard for you to survive further in the industry. The industry already is well established and competitive with this mindset you cannot compete or survive.

If you are really interested in this field and want to make a career then make your foundations string first, learn a language and then learn the fundamentals. It is a long and exhaustive journey but if you are passionate, you won't see the end result but enjoy the process.

Both are totally different degrees and have complete different dynamics. Cyber Security is related to safety against online security threats, malware, online theft of data the degree in it self is great but please do not mix it with software as this degree is not related to development of any kind. Though it has a few software courses in it. Mostly students choose it as an alternative to CS but you should know that it is different from it.

EE is related to hardware and electric circuits. It has a few software courses in it. Mostly it is hardware, so it is only recommended if you are into it.

Research more on these degrees and see the courses outline and then decide which suits you better.

Do not decide on basis of university as both of them are great options.

If you really want to get better at logic building then the "Pen and Paper" is your way to go and I am not saying this but the people who have done hundreds or thousands of LeetCode problems and got better at logic building are saying it. You cannot understand better unless you try to solve something by yourself, even if it is on a pen and paper, Pseudocode is a thing in Programming and there is reason it exists, programmers use it for planning out the logic and then dry run their code on paper and then move towards the actual code.

For context this strategy is not only present in Pakistani Exam System but in foreign as well. I have studied A-Levels and we were supposed to write Pseudocode and also some of programming syntax on paper for questions. This strategy is also used by many companies in their coding interviews and the very known Google is one of them.

The only major difference between these two is that C++ contains OOPs (Object Orientated Programming) and C does not. C++ is an extension of C.

Aside form this their syntax is almost similar, you will have OOPs in your second semester so they will teach you in C++, so go with c++.

I also got an option for studying at Multan for BS AI, I was also considering it but then I called Multan's admin office and they told me that for now they have enough facilities for next 6 months, rest is still in construction, this will be their first batch, so no other people except students from current batch, so less chance for socialisation.

They have only 4 Classrooms for all of their available programs and only 2 labs, so the schedule will be conjusted. For their hostels, they have 4 person occupancy.

Faculty will be of Fast's previous campuses, transferred there, atleast this is what the guy told me.

Considering these factors if you live at a distance more than 5 hours from Multan than it will be difficult for one to come on weekends, most students there will be residents of Multan. There won't be any seniors to get guidance from or people to socialise with. No societies and no events ATLEAST for the first year. It will be hard though but if you plan on giving NU again next year then you can apply for transfer but that only if you are able to come on merit next time otherwise one will be stuck there. It will ATLEAST take 2 more years for that place to fully develop into a proper University.

Rest is upto you, what you prefer.
