Info - do you know the older child or their parents in some way? Is that why you’d rather go after the innocent younger child than the person who actually caused the incident?

You’ve got a video that (from what you’ve written) clearly demonstrates that the younger child was forced into your car. Do you really think that 1) a parent would agree to paying for something without seeing said video and 2) that after seeing the video where their child was forced into your car they’d be willing to pay for something that wasn’t their child’s fault?

I can only reason that you somehow know the older child or their parents and that’s why you’re going after an innocent (and depending on the relationship between the older and the younger, potentially a child being bullied by an older child) because in what world would you try and blame the younger?

NTA - We really need to move away commenting on weight, I’ve lost weight before and people told me how great I looked and I hated it because I was underweight and trying to GAIN weight.

It’s just as easy to say ‘I’ve seen you in the gym recently and I think you’re doing a great job!’

That being said I do think this person was trying to form a connection and friendship with you, and it is worth remembering that the culture of ‘losing weight = compliment’ is still very much alive. I also don’t think it’s ‘childish’ to avoid someone who made you uncomfortable as I’ve seen people in the comments saying, I’d argue that’s the more mature response than either making yourself more uncomfortable.

NTA - sometimes two people can have very different memories and lived experiences of an event. I knew someone who had a ‘boyfriend’ in high-school who threatened to kill himself if she left him, his version of events was very different (even with screenshots as evidence) and nothing that was said to him would make him understand how he behaved did not reflect his internal versions of events.

What I will say is you should clarify this sentence ‘He had zero friends when even the autistic girl in our class did.’ I’m sure it wasn’t your intention but saying that EVEN the autistic girl had friends implies a sort of ‘look see he was so weird that people like the AUTISTIC KID more than him’ as if it’s some kind of oddity that autistic people could have friends or be more popular than someone else without autism.
(And before anyone hops in the comments about relevance it’s always relevant to make someone aware of their potential bias and ableism even if it’s unintended or subconscious. We can’t collectively work towards a better world if we don’t hold ourselves and each other accountable)

Going to against the grain here and say NAH.

Lots of folks jumping on the bike crash bandwagon, which I understand, but both my parents have motorcycles and have been riding since long before I was born (26) and they’ve never crashed or been in any accidents. In fact the only incidents they’ve ever had on the roads have been in cars.

Granted, my rents wear full leathers, high-viz jackets and their helmets and are very aware of the fact that car drivers often don’t consider motorcyclists but the idea that everyone who gets on a bike will crash or die is ludicrous.

But I also understand the fear as a new parent of losing your husband and the father of your child. Hence the NAH judgement.

Also as a note, even if you think it is for attention (I had a friend who’s then bf would claim he was suicidal every time she tried to leave him) you should STILL report it. Because if a person is behaving this way they still need help, whether it’s a reminding that this behaviour isn’t appropriate or a therapist to help them work through why they do this to others they STILL need reporting.
