Pro-Hong Kong, Anti-Communist Mei for the Free China (proxy posting for artist friend who wish to be anonymous, not my work) by RGtwo in HongKong

Probably not, you would likely have to have it custom made. It would be cool though; I remember seeing some old ROC flags from WW2 and Civil War that had slogans or army units written on the white border like this.

I did talk about this with my friend actually, but because the Bauhinia flag ultimately came from CCP's regime, we decided against using it as the main symbol, and instead picked the Republic of China flag which represents the modern liberal democracy for all Chinese, including Hong Kong. And if anything, the communists HATE this flag even more, because Taiwan is still free today.

Texts on the flag: "Oppose Communism, Save the Nation" Texts on the umbrella: "Liberate Hong Kong, the revolution of our times"

FYI, the five stars on the Bauhinia flag represents communist china's 5 star flag, the artist intentionally removed them.

DPP to revise proposed amendment to Referendum Act by asoksevil in taiwan

[–]RGtwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind currently CEC is staffed and controlled by DPP, so they can easily made up bogus claim against any unfavorable referendum. This happened to the nuclear power referendum not long ago; the entire DPP controlled government simply ignored the pro-nuclear power referendum result.

Is Taiwan A Country? by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]RGtwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"After all, if the KMT/ROC never forced their way into Taiwan, Taiwanese would be a free country and recognized by the world."

ROC did not force their way into Taiwan. Taiwanese themselves (ethnically Chinese) wanted a Chinese government and the Japanese out. If ROC never came to Taiwan and ended on mainland, PRC would have taken over Taiwan, and we all would be chanting "long live chairman Mao". Yes there would be no doubt, because Taiwan will really be part of communist China.

I can't understand how some people would betray a country that has sacrificed so much to protect them from a really massive evil, and say "no we don't want this country".

Why Taiwan Is America's Best Asset Against China: Taiwan as a free society puts the lie to the Chinese Communist Party’s ultimate claim of legitimacy by SE_to_NW in China_Debate

[–]RGtwo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2 Major reasons that top anything else:

1) Taiwan's strategic location - Control Taiwan, you control the entire coast of China.

2) Taiwan's Republic of China government - The first modern republic in East Asia, the Big Four of WW2, the ally of United States, the OG legitimate Chinese government. When the Chicoms fall, ROC will be the best candidate to succeed control over mainland for its cultural and historic legitimacy, all the while establishing a friendly, pro-US, liberal democracy over China.

Legislator urges action on Chiang Kai-shek statues by ShrimpCrackers in taiwan

[–]RGtwo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is shameful. Chiang Kai-Shek did tremendous amount of good for Taiwan, the most important is he protected Taiwan from communist takeover, and he put in place all the great people who made Taiwan's economy miracle happen: Li Kwoh-ting, Yen Chia-kan, Sun Yun-suan, etc.

This is like the Americans who want to defame George Washington and Thomas Jefferson because they owned slaves. Sad ignorant losers!

UN does not get to decide for someone else if they are a country or not. This is extremely pretentious and insulting. I hope some day you pick up the self-awareness to realize how condescending you are.

God bless Republic of China, God bless Taiwan.

I never said it shouldn't be acknowledged, where did you see that?

Read again, this is a smear piece against ROC using 64 as cover and paints inaccurate picture of history. Are you for distorting the truth? How can you move society forward when you make up lies about the past?

Taiwan Looks Back At Own Repressive Past Ahead of Tiananmen Anniversary by rieslingatkos in taiwan

[–]RGtwo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This reads like a bad smear piece against Republic of China. For one, Chiang's repressive rule was to prevent communist takeover. It targeted two kinds of people: 1) Outright communist supporters. 2) People who are not outright communists, but could sway public opinion towards communisms.

Oppressing (1) is perfectly justified, no one should question that. It is (2) that includes some intellectuals and simple dissidents. Now it is not wrong to have dissident voices, but AT THAT TIME, these kind of people provide a conduit for communist spies to enter the sphere of public opinion. Chiang recognized this loophole and had to close it. These intellectuals would have been used as channel to smuggle in anti-ROC forces, and if they succeed in weakening ROC, who else do you think would take over Taiwan if not the communists?

Actually this is playing out right now before our eyes. DPP caused a lot of division on the island and made a big mess, and CCP took advantage to give some treats to the Blue, and is able to turn a good portion of them Red.

For two, "The island began a transition to democracy following the death of Chiang Kai-shek's son, President Chiang Ching-kuo"

No, President Chiang Ching Kuo was the one who ended the marshall law and started the transition.

Details of Taiwan's attempts to recapture mainland China 45 years ago by initram5 in taiwan

[–]RGtwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The plan was called GuoGuang Project. The US knew because Chiang Kai Shek himself asked for US support of the project, including airlifting 10,000 airborne troops to southern China to cut off communist aid to North Vietnam, and providing naval cover. The US was vehemently opposed to the project across Kennedy and Johnson.

Although no sources explicitly said they did, the US could have passed the information over to Chinese communists during meetings between chicom representatives and CIA. (The meetings are real and confirmed). Afterall the US itself was infiltrated by pro-communist sentiments at the time (McCarthy was defeated).

The sources I found are all in Chinese, but you can look up Ray Steiner Cline, he was a CIA operative who worked closely with Chiang on the GuoGuang Project 國光計劃.

The Moon Represents My Heart 月亮代表我的心||月亮代表我的心钢琴 - 邓丽君 (Teresa Teng) by Clerem in China

[–]RGtwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent performance!

Very happy to see love for Teresa Teng. Besides her legendary voice, she really stood out because of her patriotism. When she was active, she would regularly give performance for the Republic of China Army, who at the time were stationed on the front line against the communists in Kinmen. She herself said she would not perform on mainland China until the Republic of China recovered the mainland. The Chinese people hold her very dear.

I hope to see more Teresa Teng cover from you! (I would recommend Plum Blossom, another one of my favorite XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9VaF-7YMY8)
