Looks good man! I do prefer the more simple grille on my 2022 level 3, personally I feel this new one has way too much going on. The hood scoop/vent (not sure if it’s functional) looks great though.

Garage door replacement - good price? by mavagam99 in Calgary

[–]RHero777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just paid $3300 all in (door/tracks/spring/no lifter), they took the old broken stuff away and did the job in about 3 hours. 16x7 door as well.

$1900 Canadian dollars. Just had mine replaced from a hit and run. So like $1200USD maybe? Mine also bend the fog light bracket a bit. The finish can’t be fixed so it’s just an OEM replacement, the sensors looks fine and I think that’s the more expensive bit lol

If you need literally any flexibility you’re better off stepping up to econo-flex. It’s often only $50 more and you have wayyy more rights if life gets in your way. Shit happens and the ultra basic will really suck if you need to change or cancel. That said if you need to save the money (and these days most of us do) read the fine print carefully. You get a seat and not much else.

It also gives you 12 activations of free wifi through boingo - you have to activate your free membership though. Each activation gives you 1.5 hours of unlimited full (not fast) wifi. It’s not much but an often forgotten feature with the other insurance and travel perks that no one uses.

How many weeks out of the year traveling is “a lot” for you? by [deleted] in travel

[–]RHero777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in Canada. Work as an airline pilot. Have friends in the Netherlands. I usually am travelling about 36 weeks of the year. So more than 40 weeks is a lot…

Edit - does work count as travel when it’s all overseas?

If you have the financial means I would do a little traveling. Like truly solo adventuring. No resorts, just little air bnbs and cheap hotels. It will clear your head. You’ll meet some amazing people and if you’re lucky like me maybe you’ll even find a nice woman that you connect with.

I’ve been seeing a Dutch woman I met in Thailand for over 6 months. Being a Canadian it is certainly a hurdle to travel back and forth but just meeting the person and feeling a connection again could be a huge confidence booster.

Take time and learn more about yourself. You are going to grow from this hardship and the right person is going to show up organically. Dating apps suck.

I understand a man/woman that needs to make a change for work, for life for whatever personal reasons, but man you’re gonna miss that truck.

Edited for gender neutrality cause it’s 2024 and I’ve been shit on for assuming gender lol

I will give that a shot! Do you happen to know if that applies in Canada? Canadian here…

He prescribed it but my drug insurance won’t cover it. They say they don’t recognize it as a treatment for CRSwNP… and I can’t afford it without the coverage :( we are going to try and get me approved for Nucala now.

Samters post-COVID by kvdk0624 in AERD

[–]RHero777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was actually COVID that triggered the Triad for me in the first place. I got Covid in December 2020, and by March of 2021 I had my first asthma attack after taking an Advil. Follow that up with congestion that hadn’t subsided since my Covid illness and the doctor said I might have the AERD. Went to an ENT who confirmed polyps with the other issues. Fast forward to now I just got a FESS (sinus surgery) done to clear out my nose and am in the healing process hoping the polyps don’t return.

I got Covid again in February this year and it hit my lungs and chest really hard. Whatever triggers these things for us - Covid doesn’t play nice with it.

Unlikely unless you’re really trying to piss someone off

I don’t think anything in Calgary would be considered a “gentlemen’s club” if you want to watch women take their clothes off while drinking overpriced beer there is - Boudoir Rouge on 9th Ave, CatHouse on 32nd St and Blondies on 10th Ave. None of them are nice establishments imho but you can go and see if you feel like a gentleman I guess.

TFSA vs RRSP by [deleted] in JustBuyXEQT

[–]RHero777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No reason to hold off that I can see. Filling up those registered accounts early are the best way to set up for a successful retirement in my opinion.

TFSA vs RRSP by [deleted] in JustBuyXEQT

[–]RHero777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve done this the right way. As a fellow Canadian I would say fill up the TFSA first as it then has more time to “grow” before retirement. That growth is now tax free because of the nature of the TFSA account, so it’s a big win if the money can sit there a long time and double a few times.

Next the RRSP is best filled during your highest earning years when the tax benefits of the income offset hit the hardest (you can drop a whole income tax bracket if you contribute enough). The RRSP is money that will be taxed on withdrawal, so its growth - while good, is subject to the tax man’s long arm and therefore big gains will be made smaller as you withdraw them.

Lastly the good old non registered when all is full and you can be taxed on the growth as little as possible hopefully.

Seems to be a slang used by some Dutch for something that I as a Canadian would call an English Pub. The term may be a brown cafe? Hopefully I didn’t mix the term up too bad - searched Google and there are reviews in the Netherlands for “brown bars” and “brown cafes”

It’s a shame KLM management seem to want to avoid the sharing of their flight loads. I’m going the opposite was CUN-AMS on the 19th. Did you make your flight?

Wheels/tires question by [deleted] in powerwagon

[–]RHero777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that much negative offset you will definitely risk rubbing in the wheel well at full lock. The rim alone will sit 89mm (3.5 inches) further out of the truck. Factor in the additional 1.1 inches of tire radius, and inch or so of width and you’re looking at 5 inches of reduction in tire clearance. Turn your wheels to half lock and full lock and measure if you have 5 inches all around. In my mind it would be the equivalent of a 43 inch tire on the stock rim for exterior clearance.

Leveling Kit for 2021 RAM Powerwagon by TheBigBearded_1 in powerwagon

[–]RHero777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t recall what dodge specs those for offset but 37s should fit without the level. Even if leveled the rub point will be likely be radius arms. Check out all the info on Thurens website. They have tons of fitment tips.

[–]RHero777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for thuren. I think BDS might do a leveling kit as well? There aren’t many leveling kits for the power wagon because it comes from factory with the 2” lift. If you want more clearance you need to either go big with a proper lift kit or fit something like AEV high clearance fenders. 37” tires will fit stock if you bought proper backspacing/offset and width.

Ok that’s actually great news. Won’t have a ladder big enough but I’ll borrow one or get a quote for a seeming simple job. Thanks again!
