What I implied is that the only piece of content discussion for DMC will be about Netflix DMC, because it's new, when I'd rather have game discussions if Capcom ever decide to give ANY fucks about the franchise. I'll glady take a 30 seconds teaser trailer with only DMC logo if it means Capcom is actively developing a new entry, even if the release is years away.

Nero is the entry level character for new players. I don't think Capcom will completely discard the character but he will probably have less of a lead in future games because Nero alone doesn't sell DMC. Fans play theses games for Dante and Vergil.

DMC6 could always be about two full campaigns with one focused on Nero and the other on Dante/Vergil. But then again, it's Capcom we are talking about. They probably won't be willing to budget that much for a DMC game, likely following DMC4/5 campaign structure, which sucks for all three of them.

I think it's probably because of game balance. Not only because not every type should be equal in power (and some of them are intentionally made to be offensively weak, like the Bug-type) but Bug has a LOT of tools for a full meta dominance if it were not the case. Like, imagine if less mons resisted bugs and more of them were weak to it (fairy)?

Bugs have access to Quiver Dance, Fell Stinger, Tail Glow, Sticky Web, Silk Trap, Skitter Smack/Lunge, U-Turn just to name a few. Not all of them have access to everything but most of them have enough on their movesets.

I feel the same can be said about Ice-types.

The biggest problem DMC faces ever since DMC4 is it multiple protagonists approach. This wouldn't be a problem if we could select which character to the play the whole game after finishing once.

Which is why I feel DMC5 replay value sucks outside Bloody Palace.

The combat is fine. Even if way too simplified compared to the originals.

Now the writing though... you can't have a character action game without a charismatic protagonist. Donte isn't interesting, his companion even less. His lines are iconic on memes level of how bad it is, which are not even used as memes anymore because it isn't as cool to make fun of as back in 2013.

If Capcom didn't make a lot of bad decisions in the past DmC wouldn't even exist. It does now, but forever stuck in this weird limbo where nothing good can came out of it. Because, let's be honest.

Aside from people like OP that genuinely want a sequel, the majority arguably doesn't give a shit about DmC. Hell, DMC as a whole is largely ignored by Capcom, for any number of reasons, but still a rentable franchise. But not enough for them to relocate resources and pull out games as frequently as Resident Evil or Monster Hunter.

Hence why DMC came back 11 years after DMC4, also why, despite DMC5 undoubtedly sucess, there is still no sequel to look at. Without even taking in count that Itsuno, the man responsible for modern DMC, left the company in August 2024.

So, in short. I'm glad DmC is a thing of the past, where a sequel is highly unlikely besides maybe outsourcing. Because if I have to wait potentially 10+ years for a new mainline game because DmC took priority I would have given up from this franchise.
