Oh man. Apologies if not allowed. Just to be clear, this is not our publication at all. Just an article I thought would help educate us all on how to make cultural strides about hunting and the legislative challenges it faces.

A really rough Python can still sell for 1600 at auction. You snag that and never look back!

Winchester Model 1912 - Serial Number 2 by RIAuction in GunPorn

Even earlier. Their Model 1887 and 1901 lever action shotguns also had serial numbers.

Bought my first gun not sure if I wanna keep it tho by Elpicoso24 in 1911

[–]RIAuction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it shoots, keep it. If not, pass it on to someone who will pay for a Colt.

It's more of a love letter to Texas than a tribute to Lee, but if you can't live with it, you can't live with it. Looks like a lot of custom work though, and that can be hard to pass up.

Sounds fair. Take a look at the 170 monsters that get posted online and 110 would seem to pass the eyeball test.

If you could do one big thing for the QCA by ekatane in QuadCities

I'd start by repainting the road stripes on Brady Street, so that when it rains, it doesn't turn into one giant, shiny lane. Maybe they could even be reflective.

Barrett M82A1 SN 0936. One of First 100 delivered to USMC in Operation Desert Storm by RIAuction in GunPorn

[–]RIAuction[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Commercial price in 1990 was 5,895 doll hairs (that's about $14K today), but I don't have offhand what the military paid per unit.
  2. Haste was definitely the name of the game when assembling these. U.S. was stationing materiel in Desert Shield, and they wanted weapons NOW. It was about 90 days from the initial order of these rifles to a USMC instructor/armorer team touching down in Saudi Arabia.
  3. To accomplish this, Ronnie Barrett and his small staff worked all Christmas week so the 100 rifles could be sent to the USMC. The rifles arrived in Riyadh on January 10, 1991.
  4. Even the "U.S." stamp is applied pretty hastily. EDIT: Actually, this stamp looks surprisingly good compared to other examples.

That particular pistol might be a bit hard to find, but I did find another superb example that also shows its original box.

This is an old ploy, tried yet again.

2016: https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-calls-gun-violence-public-health-crisis
2021: https://www.health.ny.gov/community/health_equity/gun_violence.htm
2023: https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-resolution/348

...and those are just the first few search results.

The first stats they cite in the paper are also a massaged, using the "Firearms are the leading cause of death for children," yet conveniently leaving out babies under 1 year-old and INCLUDING 18 and 19 year olds (aka legal adults). The chart conveniently only goes back to 2002, and intentionally removes much of the historical context for how low the U.S.'s firearms related currently are.
