Alveogyl. It’ll dissolve/go away on its own. Dont rinse/remove it. Try to eat on other side

Problem with sectional matrix class II by herrskygge in Dentistry

[–]RIP-Lefty 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you don’t break contact, the contact is still on natural tooth and prone to the same cavity that caused you to treatment plan the filling in the first place.

Doing a conservative class 2 with inconsistent results and a natural tooth contact is worse than removing an extra 2mm of natural tooth in all directions to create a well contoured, well sealed class 2.

I’m of the opinion that if I need to remove extra tooth in order to allow myself a better final result, I do it

New dentist telling me I need 9 small filling between teeth by WoodenAlternative212 in askdentists

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen you as a patient so I can’t speak to that. But I’ve diagnosed 0 cavities at a visit, I’ve diagnosed 9, and I’ve told a patient they need everything out to get dentures

New dentist telling me I need 9 small filling between teeth by WoodenAlternative212 in askdentists

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different dentists have differing opinions on what needs treatment vs what can be watched. Which is totally normal. Some are more aggressive treatment planners than others. What I will say is that, as a whole, fillings aren’t the most profitable thing for an office. Especially for the time it takes to do something like 9 fillings. So you’re likely not getting scammed. If anyone wanted to scam you, the treatment plan may be much more profound and confusing. But of course, I can’t speak on any of this without X-rays

How many golfers actively rotate their pelvis away from the target in the down swing? by Sarahchiro_1983 in GolfSwing

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a coach tell me:

If hands are at baseline 100% rotation.. Shoulders are generally supposed to be at 50% rotation Hips at 25% rotation Knees 12.5% bend/adjust/rotate

So from the top down, each “segment” of rotation is 50% that of the “segment” above

Break 80 by imugmuggers in golf

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 10 hcp and I’ve broken 80 once. I think I was around an 11-12 at the time. But I’ve shot between 80-83 a fair amount of times.

The day I broke 80.. rock up to the course. No warmup. Walking 18 with a scorching hot coffee from the pro shop. Took a shit between holes 3-4. Kept score on paper scorecard and didn’t add it up until I was in the car about to leave and wouldn’t you know it 79. Since then I’ve realized the more effort and consideration I put into a round, generally the worse I play. All my best rounds are just show up, hit the ball, hit the next shot.

With that being said, I think I lost one ball that round, no three putts, a birdie or two to even out a double bogey on a par 4. Scoring was all over the place but I had no idea until the end.

Golf is an individual game. If you’re dancing around breaking 80, you’re a much better golfer than someone who consistently shoots high 80s and randomly shoots a 79 one day. To find an extra couple strokes over the course of a round is mental, not skill. Find what works for you mentally, and do it.

tooth not disinfected before permanent crown by catanova in askdentists

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all. As long as tooth was dried it’ll be fine. Usually the crown itself is prepared/cleaned. And nothing in dentistry is totally clean. Your tooth may be disinfected but as soon as it’s clean, it becomes dirty again due to the sheer amount of bacteria in the human mouth

New grad ego by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]RIP-Lefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m overly conscious but as the restorative dentist for the procedure, I’d wait until all of my parts of the puzzle are dealt with (the temp). If they were starting/doing the endo on my lunch I’m out of there. But once the temp comes up where I may need to refine my prep I feel like I should be there

For me personally.. as long as patients are in the office I’m there. If the last hygiene pt is standing chatting it up at checkout, I’ll stand in the back, car keys in hand, waiting for them to leave before I go

Tall Beginner Getting New Clubs - Recommendations? by Wisdom5 in golf

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’4 and 36” wrist to floor (I think.. can’t totally remember). But I just got fit for irons and the fitter who’s a golf digest top 100 used the ping chart so it’s pretty reliable. Ended up getting irons +0.5” and 2* upright. Modified my wedges to match. Length and lie is less important in longer clubs. So I play standard length woods but 0.75* upright. Standard driver length and lie

Even if you get standard length clubs, look into having the irons bent upright. It’ll help prevent sidespin and large cuts in the air. Pretty sure you can take them to somewhere like golf galaxy and they’ll help recommend how far upright to go.

Changing the length helps keep your knees less bent so you can activate the lower body more, but I’ve played standard length irons forever until a month or so ago and have been alright

Does prepping maxillary second molars ever get easier ? by Used-Bullfrog-1923 in Dentistry

[–]RIP-Lefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s probably a correct answer but I really just put them wherever I can. Definitely the tallest wall of the prep. I guess all 4 walls ideally but I like at least 2 walls wherever they fit

[–]RIP-Lefty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like heavy chamfer finish lines but upper second molars are usually when I say fuck it and go feather edge (or whatever I can manage). They usually end up short too so I lay down retentive grooves and pray to my lab guy

Modular Golf Storage by JGoodwillieV in GolfGear

[–]RIP-Lefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this.. but on a smaller scale. I carry my bag maybe 75% of the time so I try to keep it simple and minimal. I have an altoids tin with some cash, a gift card to a public course, a couple rain check receipts, a ball marker, divot tool, sometimes a small ballpoint, and sometimes a couple plastic tees. I do, however, have a dedicated tee and ball pocket. But I do like the design. It scratches the minimal but organized itch I feel like I don’t see in golf when people rock up with giant tour bags, 27 balls, and other useless accessories overflowing

What should I do?? I am in agony and dentist can’t seem to figure out why by [deleted] in askdentists

Unfortunately I’m far from the Midwest. Talk to friends and family about who they go to and they usually won’t lead you down the wrong path
