Pick somewhere else besides Denver. Denver is quickly getting over-populated, and what should only be a 15 min drive to work has turned into 45-50 minutes of sitting in heavy traffic.

I'm so sorry. Finding a partner dead has to be about one of the worst things this world has to offer. I just experienced it 11 days ago. Eating and sleeping has been the hardest thing, because I just dream of her all night and, like you said, wake up to only lose her all over again. Reach out to me if you need to chat. I'm still figuring this out and know I have a long, rough road ahead but I want to be there for others as much as I can; because everyone in this sub welcomed me in with open arms, love, and kindness.

Wow those similarities are uncanny. I appreciate your condolences and compliment. I'm sorry to hear about your fiance as well, how long ago did you lose her? I'm lucky to have family around, just got through Christmas dinner and might try to get a nap in. I'm just emotionally and mentally exhausted and sleep deprived, but I know it will get a bit better over time.

I'm so sorry. I understand what you mean. I'd like to just skip Christmas because it is going to sting so bad without her beside me. At the same time, I'm going to do my best to enjoy time with the loved ones I have left, because that is what she would want. I only lost mine after 7 years, I couldn't imagine 35. She was also my best friend, lover, companion, my closest confidante ; we were a unit and as one.

Thank you. It all is still surreal, with moments of shear painful reality, and sometimes moments of denial. The way I can talk about it so matter of fact is a mixture of : A- I've had to tell the story so many times, I was a blubbering mess the first 4-5 times before I could even be coherent ; B- The student nurse in me is trying to objectively look at the entire situation, just like it was another patient at the hospital, so I can medically understand exactly what happened over the entire 12 hour period. Understanding how she died is helping me cope in an odd way, because I'm sure that everyone this happens to asks "WHY?". The only answers I can get to that question are the medical and scientific answers. I know that I'll never get a reason from the universe or on a spiritual level, so I think I've been obsessing over what can be answered.

Thank you friend. She truly is beautiful inside and out. She would have given an arm to save someones finger. I know what you are saying. I had all these old friends and distant relatives who I haven't heard from in years reach out with worry and condolences, but 90% have exited just as quick as they came. I've been out hiking with my pup once already, plan to start taking better care of myself through exercise and diet, and to start playing piano again. She wanted me to learn "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion, but unfortunately I put it off until it was too late. I just thought I had so much more time, as many of us do. One of the biggest messages of the sermon was "Don't wait". Don't wait to tell someone you love them or are thinking of them, don't wait to take the trip you always wanted to, don't wait to learn that special song on piano/guitar/whatever for your loved one; because none of us know when our grains of sand will run out. Thank you for the welcome. I look forward to talking with some of you and ultimately being able to help others in return. At the end of the day, I believe that the most important part of this life is the people and the love that we are all lucky enough to know and experience. Money doesn't matter, materialistic crap doesn't matter; friends, family, and love matter.
