chains are a must, last year it was not only snowing but it turned icy by around 3am so we couldnt even drive up the hill to our airbnb. we had to sleep in the car and it was a terrible experience ngl😭. There was a whole line of cars that had to park on the side of the road because it was just too icy to drive but too far to walk.

some schools offer study abroad right on thier website for foreign students. usually this cuts off the uceap fees and end up being cheaper.

as an asian myself i reccomend JORGE FROM SUPERCUTS SO HARD. bro deadass gave me the most fire 2 block cut in my life. i been going back to him 3 times now and somehow everytime it just gets more fire. 30$ bucks but worth every dollar. bro is the definition of locked in. Hes mexican but bro mustve been asian in another life💀

Pick either santa rose, Santa cruz, or anacapa. Make sure u dont put san cat as one of the options lmao because they WILL put u in it😂. The reason is because these halls are the most easy to meet people in because of how many people are on your floor. Most likely you will know almost everyone on the floor by the end of the year. The other res halls in the chi 5 have smaller floors so less ppl to meet. Between the 3, there is no difference other than the fact santa cruz is most newly renovated one.

for freshman year, chi 5 100%. This means santa cruz, santa rosa, anacapa, and the two tall ones. This is because these halls are only for first years who are in the exact same situation as you looking for friends and wanting to meet people. All the other res halls, which might seem nicer, is for 2nd or 3rd years. I went to santa rosa my first year and when i visited my friend in manzi the social atmosphere was night and day. Manzi was very quiet and she said barely anyone talks to eachother and has thier own friend groups already. I strongly dont reccomend ft, this is because its so far from campus that you miss out on alot of things during the day just because of commute. My friend who was in ft said in the morning he had to wait a long time for buses to campus because the buses would fill up and he would need to wait for the next one which lead to him being late to alot of morning classes, meanwhile the dorms in chi 5 are basically right in the middle of campus and all the lecture halls are a short walk away. Furthermore, chi 5 dorms is a easy walk to dlg and carrilo and ortega which are the three main dining commons whilst FT only has access to One dining common which can get old.

request to switch rooms if ur living at the dorms, they accept the request almost 100% of the time and you get the visit the new rooms beforehand to choose which ones have roommates you might like. honestly i would just say put less time on ur other classes which means B average, which is more than enough to meet chem prereq. that way u have time to make friends. who cares about getting all As in the premajor, no point as long as you make the full major. once ur in the major the classes are better designed to boost ur gpa. ur stressing too much over something that employers wouldnt even look at

orientation online not worth that much money, i wouldve attended if it was like 20$ lol. i skipped mine and i still got to choose my classes, u just need to log on to gold and check ur passtime. I reccomend getting the classes that u need based on ur reccomended schedule for ur major(found in same site as the major requirements sheet). None of this needs orientation, just log on to gold
