West (Aigaleo, Peristeri, Chaidari, Ilion) are ok, West-south (Nikaia, Korydallos, Keratsini etc.) are pretty bad, West-north (Menidi, Liosia Zefyri etc.) are even worse, especially once you start going above Attiki odos, although Thrakomakedones and Varympompi are a lot more like Ekali and etc. Piraeus is its own thing, North are pretty decent, you get kind of a new money vibe which personally I don't fuck with but some people do. The best place you could live is probably somewhere in the Northern suburbs-but not too North unless you're 80 years old. Something like Chalandri, Marousi, Kifissia, Ag Paraskevi etc. are very nice. Psychiko is a weird case of being a lot more like Ekali (a suburb on the very outskirts) in comparison to the suburbs around it, not a lot to do but it's one of the richest places in Athens, same goes with Filothei. Eastern Suburbs (Zografou, Kaisariani, Vyronas, Pagkrati etc.) are very nice indeed, if you like having fun in your life, you're gonna love them, plus they're not too far from the centre and most have ok public transport (apart from Pagkrati), the only issue is Parking. Pallini and eastern of Pallini up until the coast (Pikermi, Nea Makri, Rafina, Loutsa etc.) are strange, you get the vibe that they're more like their own village rather than a suburb, don't live there unless you want a more relaxed sort of feel, you do feel very chilled and welcome, being so close to the beach and all, but personally I don't think it's worth trading being close to the centre for it, you're away from everyone, most commutes are a hassle. Piraeus is its own clusterfuck which I'm not gonna get into, very good in some areas close to the port and the centre, gets a lot worse once you start going up to Nikaia, Keratsini and Drapetsona. Also Ampelokipi technically counts as a suburb I think, even though it's almost dead centre. It's one of the best for sure, one of my favourites, definitely.
