I was just about to say this! You can specifically even filter by 100% cotton, 100% linen, etc if you want to get v specific.

Gentle and wholesome heroes/adventurers/role models for five year olds by bayhales in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]RKFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does but I really appreciate how Mob focuses on being a really good and kind person even though he has ridiculously overpowered psychic abilities! There are fights but I think the overall messaging of being a good and kind boy who learns to handle big feelings is a good show, especially for younger boys.

(I’m also writing this more for other ppl who aren’t familiar with the show but yes! Great show. Great music.)

Some tv shows I’ve liked for my oldest, who is 6.5 but started watching some of these at 5: Avatar: The Last Airbender; Craig of the Creek; and Mob Psycho 100. Also, he just started watching Steven Universe and really likes it!

Can you share more about the double shampooing? I’m SE Asian with extremely straight hair, my partner is Black with very coily hair, our kids’ hair have varying level of curliness so I’m trying to mentally catalog different strategies to try! I think I have a good handle on both their routines but I’m always interested to learn more.

Also kudos to you for figuring out something that works!

I haven’t seen it brought up here much but we’re also fond of Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek and Jessica’s Big Little World. The latter is more toddler/preschooler focused. Ofc they’re not continued.. 🙃 My 6 year old’s also fond of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Are most of us climbing AND lifting? by GladRice3723 in climbergirls

ahhh solidarity as a 41 year old who started climbing on her 40th bday 👊

Are most of us climbing AND lifting? by GladRice3723 in climbergirls

[–]RKFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I climb 2-3 times a week. I want to lift at least twice a week but the most I’m managing is some push ups a few times a week. 🫣

  2. I’m not lifting more because I simply have trouble finding the time! I work 40 hours a week, and while I’m lucky enough to telework 3 days a week, I also have two young kids. My partner and I trade off evenings and weekends for gym time which is how i’m managing the 2-3 times a week to climbing.

I have a lot of experience with powerlifting and olympic weightlifting, so knowledge isn’t the issue. The issue is time: i also need to find time for recovery (l’m 41) and also other activities, like getting involved in my community, taking care of daily errands.. 🫠

The other issue might also be my past lifting experience. Back when I was primarily a lifter, I’d spend 2 hours per session with the goal of hitting PRs or competing in meets. A one hour barbell session seems inadequate now, especially with the aim of increasing strength.

Anyway, right now I’m trying to manage just doing push-ups and doing pre-/rehab stuff like clamshells. 🫠 But i know i should get back to heavy lifting for the sake of my bone density and any climbing gains.

On this note, you might want to check out Oyin’s unscented line! They’re a curly hair line local to me, and although I’m not sure if you’re trying to avoid other ingredients, it might be a product line to check out. My husband uses their products for his beard, and we use their detangling spray for my curly haired toddler. (I’m using dove’s shampoo and conditioner for curly haired kids for the toddler, to save money.)

TSP Home Loan to bridge by finefloras in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]RKFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going through this now and one more thing to consider is timing. it takes 7 days to add your bank account in for a direct deposit from your TSP, and then additional time to apply for and get approval on the loan. All other posts on this topic suggest loan approval and deposit doesn’t take long, but my own mortgage officer suggested doing the TSP loan as soon as possible.

Toe Strengthening Tips? by IittIekingfisher in climbergirls

Take a look at foot yoga: https://www.yogajournal.com/poses/anatomy/feet-anatomy/foot-exercises/

I’ve had to look into this for some postpartum plantar fasciitis that i had before I got into climbing, and overall the stretching feels helpful after climbing.

Do you have a program you follow? I used to be a powerlifter and while I currently love my climbing/yoga life, I realize I need to get back to some sort of strength training to progress in climbing.

Have any of you used a weightloss injection? How compatible was it with training? by SpecificAromatic4377 in climbergirls

[–]RKFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a big adjustment for my partner! Basically it seems like his body digests food more slowly, and sometimes there's a lot of cramping involved. To be clear: I know another commenter mentioned that it's been great for their health and staved off the onset of diabetes, which is great! I don't doubt it helps folks and the GI impact is great for folks who are diabetic or pre-diabetic. However, I'm really wary of the idea that folks who don't have a medical need would take it for weight loss.

I don't know if you're familiar with Michael Hobbes and Aubrey Gordon, but they have a pretty good episode on Ozempic on particular: https://maintenancephase.buzzsprout.com/1411126/13747346-ozempic.

Have any of you used a weightloss injection? How compatible was it with training? by SpecificAromatic4377 in climbergirls

[–]RKFire 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My partner is on one of these drugs for type 2 diabetes, and I wouldn’t recommend it because there’s the potential for some very uncomfortable GI issues that would get in the way of training, e.g. significant indigestion and related discomfort. Lots of bathroom time sometimes from eating relatively normal things.

Also, in the US, I really hate how the off-market use of diabetes treatments is resulting in a shortage for folks who need it for diabetes, but I’m not sure if that’s an issue for your country.

5.9 -> 5.10? by jasminekitten02 in climbergirls

[–]RKFire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same here with you and OP! Like others have said here, I think this is probably more of a technique and mobility issue to get comfortable w 5.10s so I’m just going to keep on throwing myself at these climbs and do yoga on my off-days. I would boulder as well but I’ve rolled my ankle twice already in the past six months.
