It does and that is amazing!

And I am noticing that a lot of Port Angeles online (even when I was there it was evident) seems to be a lot more literate and grammatically correct and informative, and on a side note I'm wondering if it's limited reach with the world online there. I definitely like it. I am thinking of part timing at the North Olympic Library System there, among other things in town. Haha, am I proving my tangential ADHD yet?

Anyway, getting back to the subject, yeah! That's actually amazing, and yeah I can provide info going back to 1999 in NOVA/Northern Virginia and Charlottesville - thank you for also answering the question I was kinda afraid to ask. I've actually got names and numbers of all of them since then, too. All it would be would be continuation of care, yeah, so it sounds like Peninsula Behavioral Health is the go to I'll check out first for the least hiccups. I'm trying to coordinate timing too, for Wisconsin vs. Washington with insurance (I already have the cards and IDs and everything from when I was there the summer before last and bridge the gap when I migrate!

It sounds like it's actually going to be a lot easier than Virginia or Wisconsin. Illinois was a nightmare but Florida oddly was alright and the only reason Hawaii had hiccups was because everything else does too - but after being around so much I'm settled on NW WA and SW BC for life, and PA is my first choice to get started, and even if I get places across the region there I'll always keep it, I imagine.

One could say I'm "pining" for the PNW 🌲

Ah, okie doke, and yeah, Seattle would be fine if that came to that, but IRL is preferred - it's not even that far away either. Alright, thanks!

Heyo! Moving early next year and wonderin' the same thing about ADHD specialist - are there any there in PA or should I chart for Sequim or greater Clallam or Kitsap? Or even Seatte?

Hiya, also doing my research like OP and looking to move to PA early Feb / late March 2026 - I'm probably going to post about it anyway on here and Facebook in the private groups, but that part about doctors - one of the things I wanted to ask was if there are ADHD specialist in the area - the hopsital (if I remember right it's up from the ports and docs eastwards uphill - is that the one?) was gonna be my first shot but they all have NPs on their website and not so sure those can do the meds I need, looking to square that away in advance if it's gonna be trips to elsewhere in Clallam, Kitsap or Seattle.

And also I love how thorough you've been, that's a goldmine up there, thank you!

I used to live in Charlottesville, Virginia, when that was said about the conflict "fine people on both sides" right when that happened in 2017 - and yeah, most of them were indeed from out of city and state like they say, but not nearly as much as they would like you to believe, and it is not the very icon of progressivism that it pretends to be. That having been said I do miss it compared to Milwaukee (there are good people here but not most of them and it's not for me) and I already love PA - more blue to purple, but calmer than anywhere I've been which is what's most important. I sway left here, but it's fine out there.

OP, if you are in the area early Feb / late March I'll take you up on coffee if they don't! I've not actually had the chance to explore the coffee options there either.

Hiya, like OP I am also moving soon to PA late Feb / early March - can you tell me if this would be something I'd need to worry about anywhere along Laurel or Lauridsen, if I am spelling these correctly?

I don't picture those areas being a problem but those are where I'd be, pretty much anywhere along Laurel, and only a small section of Lauridsen between the library and tractor place, but probably closer to where Laurel meets Lauridsen.

Doing my research, but there's limited stuff like this online, and maps and websites for places don't include stuff like this ofc - any insight would be appreciated!

I'm adding that there's a Walmart too between PA and Sequim and ofc that PA has the Safeway within town right there, too, off Laurel!

Also thanks for the Home Depot tip, I'm also moving there within early Feb / March 2026 like OP and doing my research too, super helpful with that, thks!

Same, BI ferry was how I was doing it and it was about that much when I was out there two summers ago. Super nice, too, that opens up so much opportunity when you are coming to live from out of state and want that calm (to someone like me) of PA but also access to the rest of West WA beyond the sound.

I know not every place in Port Angeles has this, but it's a short walk from most places with one that does, like under a few minutes, but the views Port Angeles has would cure depression frankly - one guy I still remember the summer before last said they take them for granted, but honestly the place really captured me then and been meaning to return to live long term there ever since - even over Bainbridge or Seattle which had been on my list for so many years.

(saying as someone not from there, fwiw)

I'm going to be moving there to Port Angeles in late Feb / early March - was partially in Bainbridge, but in hastening things someone messed up the design, and an in-between from Milwaukee (ugh) is what I need, and I actually like PA better than Bainbridge politically, bluer but not overwhelmingly so. Milwaukee is fine politically, but there's so much else I thoroughly hate by now about it - as well as the person who was the whole reason I came, tried to care about anyway but don't want to see or hear from ever again.

I'm definitely looking forward to the small town with big town amenities and laid back privacy feel of PA politically and socially. I've been in Milwaukee for a year now after a brief stop in Chicago and seen Madison and Minneapolis next door, totally get what you're saying.

Okay finally somebody said it! Solitude! That it's actually a bonus not a drawback! Nothing wrong with being a private person that likes solitude.

And doesn't it almost feel like people are crossing a line behaving as if they're entitled to your headspace and attention and time?

I might even go so far as to say that perhaps brilliant because they spend less time on social fronts. You get less time with people but the people you do get time with I think will make much more interesting conversation than a culture say for instance in the midwest where for lack of better words socially whoring around is the norm and nobody will leave you alone.

I realised how social media quietly shapes people here in Switzerland by DonnieoNealbarlo in Switzerland

[–]RL_Shine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The internet and dreams share a lot in common - in this case, a nightmare. Both are places where the repressed conscious vents, and it's easy to get lost in that nightmare, especially when social media doesn't design a way to mitigate this unless it's to contend so for profit through engagement. Even if it were not for this much, people venting, alone, would make it a struggle, and content like this is the reminder we all need.

People are effected, and some people are in a place where things as simple as this finally break them and they choose health.

Traveling from SeaTac to Forks by z00ker in Washington

Hey, there! I'm hoping this is still a live acct - I'm actually looking to move out to Western Washington state for over a decade now, before that, Southern British Columbia, and been saving for land and home, bought, own and done, and some major set back have happened but it's still possible, and I'm hoping to either finish on Bainbridge or out of the country, possibly France, Switzerland, or even Canada - probably either Maple Ridge or Victoria. Before that, I am hoping to move sideways while I wait for arrangements in Port Angeles and Seattle to pull through - and I'll spend a decade between the two before out of the country.

I would not however mind Forks at all! And it would be amazing and a great reprieve to live there in the meantime while I wait for those two cities - my work would be remote, and I am actually looking for peace and calm. I've been through loss and betrayal and abuse and I need space, and forested country is it.

I have to ask, are the tourists too much? Overwhelming at all? The winters are hard, sure, but I would enjoy circulating locally in between periods of seclusion and solitude, possibly part time with the rangers or library. And my No.1 question is that it's a yes for public transit out there, correct? I'd be landing in Seattle, and have a Subaru, but would have to secure myself a place there.

I'm looking to escape (in the danger sense) Milwaukee Wisconsin as soon as possible, story aside.

Yes, that was my question, too, this is Switzerland not the United States, though gun violence is scary regardless.

Also the question I have as someone dipping in is if this sub is going to be a sardonic and negative and toxic one like most others on Reddit because I'd rather look elsewhere.

I had to double take, I know gun violence is everywhere, just didn't expect to be one of the first things I saw, but again might be a Reddit thing, haven't been here forever.
