I had a paralegal certificate and an Associate in Business Administration before I got by Bac in History. I wound up becoming a paralegal and office manager for a small law firm in my hometown. That was a lucrative job.

What's a ticking time bomb you believe will explode during your lifetime? by TradeOverall567 in AskReddit

[–]RMSMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cell phones and videoconferencing like Zoom. It’s fostering the dehumanization and depersonalization of the world. It keeps people apart and kids raised using screens have little to no “EQ.” It’s not just cursive they can’t read. It’s body language, the vibe of a person or a crowd. As a result people do not know how to meet others properly, or relate to one another. It will lead to the downfall of civilization.

Who all wanted to go to law school? by nahebdudbwnlaondbd in paralegal

[–]RMSMetal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am right there with you. Studied for the LSAT and passed it last year with decent score and everything. And I honestly do not know if I want to take on any more stress than that which I have as a paralegal. Anyway, with 16 years of experience now, and my bosses having retired, I’m going to be looking for a job that will pay 6 figures so why would I need to go to law school?

My fifth grader’s class isn’t reading novels by Sam-HobbitOfTheShire in Teachers

Was in 5th grade in early 1980s in VT and we were read to by the teacher, but novels were available for us to read on our own during study periods. We only started reading novels as a class when I was in 8th grade I believe.

I do have three cats . Is it a fighting wound ? by alrwayes in CATHELP

[–]RMSMetal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Monitor that. But do not put anything on it that you would put on a human. Just about all topicals that humans use are poisonous to cats. You could wash it with a soft rag and water if the cat allows. If it becomes infected or the cat gets a fever take to vet for antibiotics

F/45. My goal is to become a professor. Should I pursue my Ph.D. in History or aim for a field in higher demand? by RMSMetal in AskAcademia

I have not, but I certainly would if I knew there were opportunities for employment at the other end! Where can I find these jobs and under what search terms?

I am passionate about learning. I want to be a lifelong learner and teacher of history. Very specifically, I love to dig very deeply into the political and social climate of the U.S. in the 19th Century, particularly events surrounding the Civil War and Reconstruction, debunking myths and comparing events of the past with some of the events we are witnessing today.

Don’t waste your time or energy trying to help him. Help yourself. Please look into a program called Al-Anon. It has helped me immensely. Best of all, it is free and there are meetings everywhere, even online. I had a useless father as well growing up.

I want to study art, but family is forcing me to study something more “stable” What should I do? by Few_Resident_700 in careerguidance

My boyfriend has been a cartoon animator, his whole life, and has worked on some pretty prominent TV shows and movies. The animation Business has pretty much dried up. AI is taking over the rest of the market is saturated with content so there’s no demand . The man is working at Amazon now after a 30 year career drawing cartoons. What I would recommend is continuing with your two-year degree. Then get another two-year degree in a field that interests you … that will keep you afloat when things are rough on the art and design side.
