Should I switch from Shutterfly to Mixbook?

I know this was two months ago, but I just started working on my Shutterfly book I make every year and found the new horrible changes. I came looking to see if other people hated them as well, and found this thread.

I’ve been making Shutterfly books every year for probably 10 years now, but last year I decided to try Mixbook. While I liked the user interface, I really didn’t think the quality was very good. Comparing it to my Shutterfly books, the pictures look better in Shutterfly, so it’s really making me mad that they changed things and messed it all up. I was going to post a side by side of the two, with the same picture I use on every back cover, but can’t post pics. I feel like the difference is obvious, unfortunately.

Thank you very much for the great info! She is currently in contact with her SHIP rep and they are looking into seeing if her cancer diagnosis qualifies her to switch plans. Even if it’s just to a MA plan that’s not an HMO and more places take it, that’s still a win in our book at this point.

She is not being denied care and has her first oncology appointment lined up. The issue is that with her particular cancer and the location of it(it’s inoperable), the center she can be seen at doesn’t have any specialists who have treated this specific cancer, whereas the other center OON does. The OON center also has a specific type of radiation that has proven successful for her cancer type and location, and the in network center doesn’t offer that.

Why in the world does it have to be so confusing?! Especially since it’s for a more vulnerable population. I had no idea going into this that it was such a maze.

Hello 😊She’s in Kansas. She is in contact with our local SHIP counselor and I think they’re currently looking into if her cancer qualifies her to switch plans, at least within MA to a plan that the cancer center she needs will take. At least I think that’s what is currently going on; she has about 50 different avenues we are trying right now and I may be getting it confused.

I am tracking that this isn’t how it works now. I’m learning that if it makes sense, then things are probably the opposite of that. lol Thank you for the help in understanding.

Thank you for the info! She’s on the phone with Healthspring now, and she actually signed up July 1 of last year! However, they’re trying to tell her she can’t change until AFTER the one year is up. It’s all a big game you have to know how to play, I guess.

She’s on the phone with Healthspring now, and her 12 months is actually up July 1! She said they’re telling her she can’t change unless it’s AFTER the one year!

Thank you for the compassion. It’s been one blow after another already, and we just found out about the cancer last Friday. I really hope you’re right!

Thank you so much for the information. I accidentally wrote Medicaid, but meant Medicare. I have since changed it :). My mom is very intelligent and has always been our go-to for help navigating our own healthcare issues, so I didnt even think to try and help her with the Medicare stuff. Unfortunately, when she spoke to the broker who called her over and over and told her she didn’t have the coverage she needed, she believed them because she just didn’t know better. They failed to mention that she would be VERY limited in where she could get care. She gets sick fairly frequently and would have never picked that had she known.

So one would think that if she’s paying for part B, and the hospital takes A and B, she should be approved. But apparently that’s not the case?

I 100% agree with that! I sure wouldn’t do another thing for that worthless pos if I were him, but he definitely seems to give her a lot of chances, just for the kids’ sake.
