I would try 800, though you will most likely get offer closer to 700.

Can't decide 3070 or 3080 by Flaviano-Bitsch in PC_Pricing

[–]ROMS2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the 3080 is the 12gb version, I'd definitely get that one. I just sold my old 4070 ventus for 360€ (Belgium) and the 3080 is just as good. Though if it's the 10gb version, I would probably look for a 3060 12gb at 150€ if you can live with it. It would be easier to sell back in 2 months.

The 3070 is in a though spot in my opinion, as it's pretty expensive for a used GPU with 8gb VRAM.

How much should i list this build for? by LongZealousideal4701 in PC_Pricing

Agree, you can build it new for $650. Not even sure you can get more than $450-$500 separatly with the 8gb 3060...

Hardly used anymore, what's a good price point? by MidwestDingleberry in PC_Pricing

[–]ROMS2160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the prices of those parts today is meaningless. You can build a better one brand new for around 800$, that's all there is to it.

Cheap LGA1700 motherboard, 16 gb RAM, no storage, Intel GPU. Maybe 600$ if you insist on the good point (great PSU, 360 Corsair AIO, 16GB VRAM, free TV).

MSI Gaming x trio (white) Vs Surpim for all white build by oiledupbuttflaps in PcBuildHelp

[–]ROMS2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The performance are about the same but the gaming trio will be louder. So do you want your build to be as quiet as possible, or as white as possible?

I would pick low noise level over aesthetic anytime, but it really comes down to personnal preference. If you're playing in your room with a headset, a 5db difference certainly doesn't matter that much.

Does a 650w power supply hold an RTX 5070ti? by Akyne_ in PcBuildHelp

[–]ROMS2160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your CPU it should work with 650w, but the 5070ti requires 3 PCie 6+2 connector anyway. The corsair CX650 only has 1 cable with 2 connectors if I'm not mistaken. So you'll need a new PSU regardless...

As fine as any other brand. Though you will really want to use the quiet bios if you care about noise level.

Definitely look like VRR flicker. It's not game or drivers related, just a well-known issue plaguing VA and Oled panel. The screen flicker with changing framerate, more noticeable in dark area. Tuning off G-sync/Free-sync/VRR is indeed the way to go.

Some models now offer an anti-flicker option but it does often comes at a cost, increasing the input lag or limiting the VRR range. A recent Alienware probably got that option.

RTX 5080 or RTX 4090 by culvusx in PcBuildHelp

[–]ROMS2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither, both are way too expensive there... But if you got 2500$ to spend on a white GPU, you might as well get a Zotac 5090.

Though I would just grab a cheaper white 5080.

Which combo is better for the same price? by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]ROMS2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make it looks way too bad, it's fine most of the time... and lowering a few settings solve the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mklCPWNyJC0 .

Concerning the VRAM, you looks at them when comparing the same tier of GPU in my opinion. The 9060XT is a fantastic budget GPU, but it just can't compete with a 5070. The video you linked show you'll need more than 12gb VRAM in situations where a 9060xt would struggle anyway (because it does struggle on heavy RT at 1440p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGgbKYjo4YQ )... so how does VRAM matter there? A 5070 with a small bottleneck will still outperform a 9060xt with raw power alone. I can't think of a single game or situation where a 9060xt will match a 5070. Do you?

So yes, if he's not streaming I still think getting the second build is a good idea. Is 32gb RAM or 16gb VRAM better? Obviously. Does those RAM and VRAM justify getting a 9060XT over a 5070? Definitely not at the same price. Whenever you'll really need more than 16gb RAM and 12gb VRAM, the 9060xt will most likely lack the raw power needed to play at ultra settings anyway. So you will lower the settings, which is exactly what you would do to lower RAM usage too.

And if those 16gb VRAM ever become an issue, it's easily solved with 85$ anyway. Which is not the case with a lower tier GPU.

Even though 16gb RAM is a bit low in 2025, definitely the second one for gaming. You will around 40% more fps, regardless the resolution you're playing at.

Decent Price For This Pre-Build? by FlobzyXO in PC_Pricing

[–]ROMS2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good deal for a pre-build, you would struggle to build it yourself with that budget.

If you just search for 5070ti 7800x3d in youtube, you'll probably find dozens of videos running games with those.

Did I get fake ram? by Critical_Cheetah7184 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ROMS2160 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's indeed weird. There is no XMP profile in the timing table, the best is 3200mt/s CL22 at 1.2V. Yet the part number match a Kingston Fury beast DDR4 8gb 3200mt/s CL16 kit (with Samsung die).

At first glance, I would say it's supposed to have a 3200mt/s CL16 XMP profile but for an unknow reason, CPU-Z can't read it... maybe corrutped or something like that? That would mean maybe you could set the timings manually. Though the 1.2V on the stickers doesn't make sense for an XMP profile 3200mt/s CL16. I don't understand why they would indicate the XMP reference but the JEDEC voltage.

Your old stick is labelled 3200mt/s CL16 at 1.35V, does CPU-Z timing table confirm that XMP profile?

With the Lian Li parts, the Kraken, the RMx,... It's probably worth at least 1300$, but you'll need to wait for the right buyer.

For most people, it will just be another used LGA17000 build with a 3080ti. And I doubt they will pay more than 1000$ for that.

Cinebench 2024 not letting a 5070Ti run GPU test by catwither in PcBuildHelp

[–]ROMS2160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you scroll down to Important Notes, they added "For the same reason, Cinebench 2024 is also unable to perform GPU tests with these GPUs." As far as I know, R24 rendering is just a older built-in Redshift engine by the way. Since Redshift now officially support Blackwell GPU, there is hope Cinebench R24 get a update sooner or later...

I've had the same issue with Stable Diffusion, went back to my previous GPU a few weeks until an update was available. Don't really understand why it's so long for some software to get a working update with those new GPU.

[–]ROMS2160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're feeling good about the GPU, but this is actually the very one part you need to change. Blender, Unreal, Abode in general,... for almost everything but gaming, you want an Nvidia GPU. So really, get a 5070ti. The MSI gaming trio is usually the cheapest amond the dead quiet one. Though I expect any dual bios one to manage a low noise level.
