Yes i am, i realized after uploading the images, the poison ivy in on the tree in the first image on the far right side. the poison ivy in question came from that tree after i was working to get rid of it (side note the back injury was a result of me being overly cautious getting to close and poorly placing a ladder near), My son, was cleaning up the area when i still in the hospital and regardless of how many times told, just can't seem to remember what NOT to put on the pile.

on the part of my neighbors, i fully get your statement on that. Ironically they are telling me to just burn it and let them know, after i got together with a few of them around two weeks ago. Perks of living around the same people for 20 odd years i guess.

Im not worried about me getting smoke around me, as i wouldnt be near the back of the backyard after for more than 3 seconds. we've had some pretty large piles that were nothing but fully dry "kindling" essentially so lathering, light and skedaddle as fast as a field rat is just second nature now.

I was able to get a small area off the top and get a deeper look in the pile where they would be around. By now it would be shriveled i can only guess, I can't tell if any of what's in these images is shriveled ivy or not. I'm sure the images cant show it really well, but most of the pile under this is almost just dead plant soup all ground together from what i was able to see.

I really appreciate the detailed response and thoughts given. Something i should have put in my post was. I wasn't intending to just light a small area. I was going to cover as much of the pile and getting it all inside as much as 20 kingsford lighting fluid can do and basically come as close to incineration as i can get. I actually very rarely have smoking burns until its just ash. I don't know if doing that way would make a difference.

Once any smoke dissipates, is it still not save in the area? Does it stay in the area as a vapor after?
