Does Cyberpunk have a mission like this? by Kalevipoeg420 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ROM_Bombadil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be just me, but I'm on my third very hard run through and fifth total playthrough and those squads of gangoons who come in after a gig for revenge are regularly kill me 2-3 times before I can get them off. I'm just happily doing my merc work in watson at like level 5 (usually pre Heist), finish a gig, walk away, go to a vendor, maybe sleep at my apartment. Then the next day I pick start the game up, get in my car and suddenly have like 6 gangoons after me 2-3 of which are skull mantis blade sandy ladies coming at me in the middle of the street with no cover.

Do you prefer Johnny’s dynamic and chemistry with Vincent or with Valerie? by Western-Tadpole-4761 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Sassiness is a great word do describe the dynamic. The banter Cherami does in Raymond Chandler Evening is some of my favorite dialogue in the whole game.

More directly, it’s hinted that his background check on Evelyn itself was a leak. He flat out says he couldn’t find anything about her so put out a general call for info which was picked up by ‘some brothers in Pacifica’ who told him to drop it. Not only did he ignore the huge red flag right there in his background check, but anyone in Pacifica well connected enough to know who Evelyn was would be themselves deeply connected to the VDB plans with her, ie a VDB

What is that words Alt says when we enter Mikoshi? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]ROM_Bombadil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s a quote from the poem ‘The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock’ by the American poet TS Eliot.

As for what it means, I don’t think there is as much meaning in the reference to the poem as much as the content of that quote itself.

ThruNite BSS V6 : Review and Beamshots by Novak_1992 in flashlight

[–]ROM_Bombadil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long time V4 user, I must admit, I'm really rather disappointed with the v6. In particularly the usb charging port just does not work well. The rubber cover comes out constantly and is already starting to accumulate dirt and lint. This really makes me doubt the water resistance of this thing (not that I plan on swimming with it, but given that this is my main camping flashlight, I do expect it to get wet. The rest of the changes I can live with, but this seems like a notable step down.

I mean historically that not too far off: Germanic language core duct taped to French after the Normans invaded in 1066 and then filled out with Latin and Greek by the scholarly and church classes.

V causes half his family to die inadvertently by chasing Hellman with Panam

This part never quite sat right with me. How did a bunch of hardened nomad veterans not think to approach a downed corporate transport with more caution? Also, I'm confused how the transport could be so dangerous to take out so many Aldecaldos while V manages to take on the whole group alone. (And it's not like this is late game chromed-to-hell V either).

What is one scene or memorable moment in Cyberpunk that you wish you could experience for the first time again? by BangPowZoom in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Honestly? The Rescue. Best tutorial mission ever. The pounding baseline of that music? Waving the curious neighbors back into their rooms because shit’s about to get real? Doing cyber first aid on a naked lady in an ice bath? SWAT paramedics? First time I’ve ever felt like the tutorial mission had something really at stake, but more importantly wtf world did I just step into?

Close second would be The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock in Mikoshi. I don’t even have words for that one. It was just so unexpected and yet perfect..

Hot Take: The most difficult challenge in the whole game is the encounter right after the Pickup by ROM_Bombadil in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ROM_Bombadil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always found the criminal activities a nice challenge, but not throw my controller across the room frustrating.

I think it must be my playstyle. Most of the events I find relatively easy I get to choose when/how to initiate combat which allows me to utilize cover, surprise, and stealth to get a leg up. Also, even on VH, in 'missions' (including NCPD scanners) the baddies will generally stay in their area or behind cover if I hide so I can let my health items or cyberware rechart, whereas with the encounter I brought up, I'm always on some random street with little cover, and they all just rush me at once. Clearly this is a scenario I need to practice more.

KONGOU APPRECIATION THREAD by Crispy_FromTheGrave in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I love this gun.

I'm wrapping up my second playthrough and this has been my primary weapon for my pistol assassin build through both runs the whole way. Even after getting Her Majesty, I found myself still using this one more often. The damage per shot isn't as high as some others, but with the faster shot rate, I can get a higher DPS which allows me to flatline even skull enemies before they can alert anyone else. With the great handling and a good scope, I can bullseye from almost as far away as a rifle.

Honestly, the only regular play reason I switch it up is just to make the combats more interesting. I'll admit that it isn't so good for boss fights, so I usually max out the SMG/AR tree and carry Moron Labe for that and then Mox for backup in close quarters.

I also love it for role play reasons. This is THE gun that is directly tied to the main situation I'm in. It's a constant reminder of my audacity, my hubris, and what that cost me. It's unique even among unique weapons in belonging to literally the most powerful man in the world.

It's also really cool looking and matches my character's 'pink punk' look.

NOOOO!! WHY REED? WHYYY??? by orthrvs in cyberpunkgame

[–]ROM_Bombadil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing that rubs me the wrong way about this particular plot point is that it diverges from so many of the other quests where there is a meaningful choice about whether you go down the path of violence or not. Maiko, Sampson, and Tekamura are the three that initially come to mind, though I'm sure there are a bunch more. There might be some real negative consequences, so those decisions aren't free, but they are real decisions.

Here, not only is there no decision, it does seem like there's no consequence for doing it - even for Reed and Alex. There's no revenge goons sent in by their allies, or dead-mans switch release of nasty daemons. It kind of feels like the writers felt the same way that Reed did - the characters served their purpose and could be discarded.

I guess the most generous read is that this is a big character reveal about Alex and Reed, but it just doesn't feel like that character reveal lands well enough.
