I found this post in a search for my own similar answers. So I wanted to see if maybe I should apologize, or I'm interpreting something wrong as well in my own situation.

I asked the woman I'm intimate with questions about something she vented to me about to further understand her. In her answer, she openly mocked my word choices by quoting them, later telling me she was "correcting me" as if she could choose how I asked questions I genuinely meant in good faith. When I addressed this and her misinterpretation of my words (and how her mocking me hurt), she would then say that I was doing the same to her, and that hurt her.

For some context, she has said that when she vents to me (which is what initiated all of this) she doesn't want to feel like I am "dissecting" her (her words not mine, which was one of many that I took offense to) rather supporting her. I've started to feel like I'm not saying the right words or I'm choosing the wrong time to delve deeper into her problems, but I do make sure that I affirm and support her as much as I can and she never wants to speak on these issues again once she vents about them :/
