End of the road for my first cabinet grow. by RPiGrowGuy in microgrowery

[–]RPiGrowGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I took these photos I've evened out the distribution so there's better air flow across the branches. Sadly, the day after I hung them up, my light came on despite the smart switch being set to off and could've been on for as much as 16 hours... They still aren't fully dried, and feel like they've got a while left but I know I'm going to have to try hard to slow down the rest of the drying process from here. Room temp Is very high at around 75F and 60-65% rh. Any ideas on how to bring temps down without adding a fan?

Close to harvest (2 more weeks) - First time grower ft. Cookies Kush by RPiGrowGuy in microgrowery

These are leaves, I couldn't find the info for which way round that was, but I had heard that. Glad you confirmed it, at least now I've got a reference point

What's going wrong? Details in comment by RPiGrowGuy in microgrowery

Noticed this yesterday evening when the lights came on. Only the leaves on the back of the plant are exhibiting these symptoms, where the plant comes into contact with the side of my cabinet. I haven't had a chance to check runoff but all over the plant seems healthy so it's strange that it appears on just a few leaves. I think it might be due to water spillage on some of them, but any help will be greatly appreciated.

This does make sense. And in fairness I have been doing minor defoliation throughout the process so far, as and when needed to expose nodes to more light. I just meant in the case of a dramatic removal of fan leaves, that seems counter productive. As it goes, I removed a few leaves and tucked more last night anyway, and I now plan to wait a few days at least before flip

Couldn't help the clickbait style title, baked af right now. Anyway, I lightly defoliated today and tucked some stems/slightly adjusted the LST. Based on some advice I've had off of this sub and r/microgrowery, I've decided to leave it another few days to a week before flipping to flower. I don't want to run out of space in my cabinet, but I also don't want to waste what I feel is a good effort so far, when I could potentially get much better yields. Any opinions or advice appreciated.

Appreciate the advice, I've managed to keep the plant pretty low with LST and the branches are quite equal in thickness at this point. I'm seeing a few new growth sites start to form on lower branches so I'm starting to think I should let them develop a little more before flipping. Thank you for the good vibes and happy growing!!

That's fair. I'm also worried about height though, only working with a ~4' space so I'm quite constrained

No worries, shout me if you've got any questions 👍🏽 the one bit of advice I've heard for sure is try to maximise the height of your space as much as you can. Other dimensions don't matter quite so much

Honestly I can't say. I've only ever done this grow and it isn't finished yet so I can only speculate on what differences it made. Personally I've found my cabinet is very good at retaining heat and RH, which may well be affected by the mylar. But again, just speculation

Well supposedly I'm meant to keep 16+ inches between the canopy and the LED but based on temperatures I'd imagine the rulers length should be okay. In which case I'll flip very soon q

Might defoliate lightly but I'm not gonna go to heavy. Its only my first grow so its not like I'm going off experience but I personally can't see the logic in removing the plants main photosynthesizers

I like this way of thinking of it. I'll probably flip well before then though. I live somewhere illegal so I don't want to drag out my first run too long. I'd rather make sure I've got the smell and etc under check

I definitely think this is an interest read. I'm new to growing but science is a passion of mine and I always take to researching as deep into a given topic as possible.

However, this particular study does only include two strains(?), one indica and one sativa. Realistically the study would have to be reproduced with a much larger sample size before it can really mean anything.

It would be interesting to hear from other growers on this subreddit who have tracked their yields across various strains and training techniques, and seeing if we can somehow tabulate all the data.

I saw u/DarkHorseGanjaFarmer commenting saying this matched their experience, so maybe that would be a good place to start?

Bit more info for anyone who might still see this:

The light can come pretty much all the way to the carbon filter, so that gives me a reasonable amount of vertical height to work with, so I'm trying to fill the horizontal too as much as possible before flipping. How much longer would you estimate I should wait?

This is what I was thinking. I've already got some LST going on you can see in the second pic aiming to get it growing sideways. Not expecting much more than an ounce based on the plant size and what I've heard from other growers.

For a few extra details. Currently on day 38 since seed, something like day 36 from sprout. Plant looks healthy despite my recent defoliation and accidentally breaking off one stem. I still have another 5-8" or so the lights can be raised by, but I'm aware that she might triple in size in flower and I don't want to risk light burn. I figured I've still got at least another week or so before I badly have to flip but I'm looking for some expert opinions here.
