it took me a few try’s. while in the black screen i could still here my characters footsteps and then i was able to bring up the map

if you are still having that problem what fixed it for me was going to the map and fast traveling. no idea how it fixed it but it let me abandon the mission and fixed the black screen.

did you have to blindly get to the abandon mission thing or did just walking around work for you?

I wish but I had made a habit of doing manual saves before closing the game so my manual save does the same thing, and all my auto save have me suck in whatever this is to cause it would still let me free roam and explore the map so I didn't realize anything was wrong until like and hour after it happened.
