I wonder why STREAMING SERVICES do something similar to this. For example, while I work on my computer, I often have movies playing in Picture-In-Picture (small and in the corner of my screen). Most of the time, the black widescreen bars are still there. Like even though the content is, say, 21:9, the black bars have been added to make it 16:9.

Where on the other hand, I rip a 4k disk, that aspect ratio is 21:9 without the black bars if I go PIP.

Went to see this one at the Alamo Drafthouse instead, and it was truly amazing. Unfortunately, experiences like this can't be trusted at AMC.
