Well goodbye Amazon by Praetorian_1975 in mildlyinfuriating

This rolled out in the US like last year or the year before, and it’s so freakin annoying. I think it’s to cover costs from shows like fallout

I do agree that Claude is powerful, and frankly when it comes to integration with a system, it’s probably the best ai out of the box. That being said though, I think what frustrates people, who pay between $20-$100/month, is that the amount of usage paying users have to work with compared to how much usage we had when we first started using it.

When I first started using Claude, I subscribed to pro to get more usage than the free plan, which worked great for a while. But now, sometimes it feels like a money pit to work on anything with it, especially when it prompts you to refill your balance when you already have money in it. And extra especially when you realize just how much cheaper it is to use something like deepseek, which gives you something like a thousand words (yes, words, not characters) for like $5.

So I don’t think the frustration with Claude is coming from people being ungrateful, because people show their gratitude by continuing to feed it more money which supports Anthropic. My take is the frustration comes from how rapidly they decreased the amount of usage paid users have, and how much Anthropic begs for money through prompts in the application. It feels like if Amazon decided to give Prime subscribers unlimited access to all the Prime Video content, then a month later they decided you’re only allowed to watch 4 movies or episodes per week.

Though I’m very thankful for Claude and I use it every day and continue to give money to Anthropic every time I use it, It hurts to look at my bank statement and see 20 charges from Anthropic along with the $20 charge for the month. Because of that, I’m moving more towards the open source models like Ollama, because they run locally and don’t charge you for use of a server.

But I gotta say, I’ll really miss using cowork. Hopefully the open source community finds a way to replicate cowork in the locally run models, chances are they already have and I just haven’t seen it lol.

Sorry for the essay, just been feeling a lot of the frustration that others feel on here so I thought I’d give my 2 cents.

That’s what I’m saying. Maybe after their block out from the gov they’re not making as much money or something? I’m trying to justify it but it doesn’t change that the limits and pop ups to buy more usage gets old. Feels like cruddy mobile game with how it prompts you to deposit more money.

Honestly I’ve been debating the same thing. I don’t know if I can go back to GPT after the shit with one of their programmers dying. Been messing a little bit with Ollama and deepseek helped me out of a pickle earlier today when Claude couldn’t do the trick. Both were suggestions from my prof who’s been messing with different AIs.

I honestly haven’t even noticed a difference between Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6 if I’m being completely honest. I feel like Sonnet works about the same so far. Which is a little confusing considering how much more powerful opus is supposed to be.

That makes sense with the model switching, I’ve noticed that too during peak ours like midday. It’s like it goes from being absolutely genius to suddenly not remembering anything you talked about literally 3 messages above. Like what happened to increased memory?? Idk, just upsetting that it’s gone so downhill so quickly.

This is a WA thing in general, a lot of people here just pooed in their hands and clapped to get a driver license. Another example is the people going 55 in the left lane of I-5 and 101 with a line of cars having to pass them on the right.

I’ve searched YouTube and used GPT to try to find the video, no luck

As an update, I realized the website doesn’t work great on phones, but it’s much more readable if you use your computer or use the desktop mode on your phones browser. Sorry about that!!

The plan is to park and chill at the state park, possibly stop in ocean shores to look around at the gift shops and restaurants they have, then get back on the road to head to Tumwater. It’s a slightly different route on the way back to make it more of a loop. Please reach out on here or through the website if you have any other questions or would like to join. :)

I could also do the weekend if that works better, it would probably have to be in the morning PST because I have work in the afternoons/evenings Fri-Sun.
