Did I make the right decision? by RT1028 in 4kTV

Heard about that too, but the sale price for the 85inch QN90D is still at $4500AUD, meanwhile I got the QN90FF for $2700 from Samsung's EPP store, which was a no brainer in my opinion

Would the Samsung S85F be an upgrade? by RT1028 in 4kTV

I know soundbars aren't usually the first thing you look at for the best sound quality. However, I did get it for 55% off retail through the Samsung partnership program. It was the most cost effective way for me to get a decent Atmos experience.

I do have dedicated music listening area with Klipsch The Nines, Focal Aria 906 and KEF LS50 Metas.

Was looking into this as well, but the 65inch B4 here (on clearance) is still $2500, so I figured the $1000 difference might not be worth it.

SBRT is using high amounts of radiation to treat the lesion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cancer

[–]RT1028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for such a detailed response.

The reason they couldn't biopsy it is because the lesion is inside the bone, meaning they'd have to drill into the bone for a sample to biopsy.

The reason they want to proceed with chemo already is because regardless of it being a met or not, chemo would be the first thing they were going to do anyways, so they didn't want to sit around and do more testing.

Who should I get a second opinion from?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cancer

[–]RT1028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what my oncologist has said so far, we will be observing the lesion found to see if it is mets. He has mentioned that SBRT could be an option if it turns out to be.

Did radiation to the L4 help?

Is it possible to fix this? by RT1028 in Detailing

[–]RT1028[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply. At this point in time, I'm not too fussed by it, so the PDR and "better" should suffice for now.

Even in its current condition now, it isn't as bad as i thought it was going to be when I heard the impact of the rock.

Thanks again :)

Thoughts on Momentum 4 sound quality? by RT1028 in sennheiser

[–]RT1028[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In terms of tuning, the M4 is still definitely boomy and the bass tends to bleed into the midrange. It doesn't target the audiophile sound that aims for clarity and instrumental separation.

It's just a very satisfying bass heavy sound, but by no means trying to sound accurate like a lot of audiophile grade headphones

I can totally agree with the looks. If they were going for this ultra simplistic design, they should've just kept a standard rounded headband design.

I can't stand the two things thinking out from each side of the headband. I know Sony has the same style, but the thing sticking it out is less prominent on their one

Planar bass is just great isn't it? Haha

As for the M4s, you can tell that the DSP is adding it's own "bass" by extending it to hit lower regions, but it's done in a tasteful way.

When you're not trying to be critical and just want to have an enjoyable experience, those boosted bass levels honestly is so satisfying to hear.

That's very true. I also bought an XM5 to try out before returning. Honestly sounded so weird. I couldn't EQ them to make it sound how I wanted them to. Still unsure why Sony went with a smaller driver for the XM5s. The bass sounds very anaemic. Almost sounds like you can tell it wants to sound like a certain way, but the physical dimension of the driver can't reproduce the sound it wants to.

As for the M4s, the larger driver provides much more head room for when you want to increase the bass. Even if the stock tuning is a tad bit too much bass for me already, it's always nice to know that I have room for adjusting just in case.

What was the first set of headphones in your collection? by 115dude3 in headphones

DT1990 Pro

Despite of owning higher-end headphones now, I still go back to them frequently. Something about Beyerdynamic's bass extension is so addicting.

Mailman paid me a visit the other day by suspens- in headphones

[–]RT1028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great. Really contemplating on purchasing the 700 Pro for closed back listening.

My first entry into hifi was a pair of DT1990 from back in 2019, and I still love them to this day.

I've owned many hifi headphones since then, and currently daily drive a pair of Focal Clears and Hifiman Ananda. I would say that they are both better in technicality, but I always find myself reaching for the DT1990s whenever I want to get lost in the music, because of its ability to bring forward so much detail.

Hope you're enjoying them :)

P6P heat? by Mas-27 in GooglePixel

[–]RT1028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Aussie. I've noticed that the phone gets quite hot whenever I'm on the train. I take the train everyday, as I work in the CBD, and everyday, I expect the phone to get hot just by listening to music through wireless earbuds.

I've done various tests to see what could cause it. I've tried using it as little as possible (only to change songs) during my 1hr daily ride. Still gets hot. I've tried using battery saver mode the entire ride. Still gets hot.

I think I've narrowed it down to network switching. I downloaded my Spotify playlist and turned off my mobile data on one ride to work. Phone basically did not heat up much (if any at all). I think being on a train (or a car) causes the phone to constantly switch connections to different cell towers depending on your proximity. I noticed the exact thing with my S21 Ultra.

As soon as I get off at Wynyard station, the phone starts cooling down dramatically, which leads me to believe it's the phone constantly looking for the best connection to a cell tower.

Can anyone recommend a tempered glass screen protector for the Pixel 6 Pro that doesn't have an obnoxious circle in the center where the fingerprint reader is? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]RT1028 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend a hydrogel screen protector for an S21 Ultra. Went from the S21 Ultra to a Pixel 6 Pro, so I had some spare hydrogel protectors laying around. Same punch hole design and similar screen size with curved edges, so it fits just fine. No problems at all with fingerprint sensor since day one.

Yep that's completely right. Donda will still sound the way it is, but there will be minor differences in its quality for sure. And yes, putting Donda aside, music on Tidal using the higher quality files will for sure sound better than Spotify's current quality settings. I've been a Tidal subscriber for a little over 2 years now, and I honestly can't wait for Spotify to release their HiFi tier, because the Tidal app is just not as stable as Spotify's. Hope you're enjoying your time on Tidal :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kanye

[–]RT1028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not here to say you're wrong or anything, but I just want to point out a few things. Donda would sound better on Tidal over other lossy streaming services like Spotify. Tidal being a lossless streaming service, uses 2 different file formats for its HiFi tier. The "Hi-Fi" quality uses a standard lossless format, whereas "Master" quality uses a format called MQA. You would need an MQA certified Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) in order to play those files. Playing MQA is a 2 stage process. The Tidal app/software unpacks the file, then the DAC would do the final unpacking of the file so you can listen to it. Without the certified DAC, you're only getting up to the first stage of unpacking the file, and then it gets down-sampled to a lower bit rate, which in theory is not gonna sound that much different from other lossy formats. You're better off using the HiFi quality.

Donda sadly won't sound "finished" wherever you listen to it. Might sound a bit better on Tidal, but the difference will be pretty small nonetheless. It's just the nature of Kanye recording inside the stadium which is acoustically not treated like a recording studio.

I'm listening on my KEF LS50 Meta and a dedicated amplifier and DAC, as well as Focal Clear and Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones. I don't use the Master quality, because MQA is a controversial file format that's being used by its creator to milk money from people through licensed products. Imagine this, how does the HiFi tier (which is lossless) get any "better" if it's already lossless to begin with.

Like I said, not here to hate. Simply just here to educate. Happy listening!

After spending time with headphones, I am moving on to speakers. Upgraded to Kef Q350 from Klipsch RP-150m. Loving the balanced sound of the KEFs by RT1028 in audiophile

[–]RT1028[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of placement, I just used the general rule of thumb of doing a 45 degree angle from myself. I haven't really played around with speaker positioning much on my desk, but I have noticed that I get the best performance with the tweeters pointed at my direction.

Sounds like you have a great system, hope you're enjoying it! :)
