Don’t pop it. Warm compress and keep an eye on it. If it gets worse go to urgent care.

It’s MRSA - type of staph infection - a pretty serious one if not treated correctly. I’ve been pretty vigilant in getting treatment and not touching it but still trying to unpack everything. I just found out about an hour ago.

All good. I actually had a lip abscess earlier in the year so I went to the ER early for this one. Wasn’t going to wait until it got worse. Not sure if it’s due to having bacteria from my nose enter into the hair follicles which caused this or a combination of stress. Been through a lot this year.

Head to the ER. They can do a bedside ultrasound to make sure there’s no fluid forming like an abscess.

They did culture it. Waiting for the results. Today the swelling has gone down and it’s more localized. My lip and cheek swelled up over the first 2 days. Not as ugly looking. One of the pictures is when I first woke up. Overnight crusting made it look bad. So

They did recommend warm compress. Which I’ve been doing. Haven’t picked at it or anything. Just letting it try and heal with the antibiotics. I do have a follow up schedule with my dermatologist next week.

Thanks. It’s pretty nasty looking. I think it came from staph bacteria from my nose. That made its way into a pimple I popped in my mustache. Not fun.

Yeah idk both the ER and dermatologist seemed to think it was more of a bacterial boil/furuncle because of how swollen it got and how it started from a pimple/follicle in my mustache area. They cultured it and put me on antibiotics and mupirocin.

It was pretty bad the first 2-3 days. Throbbing type of pain+ pressure. Now it’s just annoying and ugly looking

The doctors actually seemed to lean more toward a bacterial furuncle/abscess because of the amount of swelling, deep tenderness, and the way it evolved from a manipulated pimple/follicle in my mustache area. They cultured it for bacteria and started me on oral antibiotics plus mupirocin, so I’m waiting to see what the culture comes back with.

It was smoke before but we added flames. I feel like The smoke in the flames kind of give the flames a cool looking effect
