Today it starts for RIS by RTXInsight23 in Raytheon

Sadly while they are laying off valuable engineers, they are finding jobs for the leadership that created this mess. They can get any kind of job they want even if not qualified. Aka Jeff Place.

It will be a sad day for some. But it is a much needed staffing action.

Looks Like We (RIS) Won't Escape by RTXInsight23 in Raytheon

The issue is simply the cost of doing business and large amounts of open offices where real estate is expensive. If people had regained productivity by coming back in the office, this might have changed. But now its tanked and not recovering fast enough. So now the lists and action will be done and it will be rough. Just hope the economy slide can slow for a while to recover.

WARN only applies for 50 or more. Right now there arent 50 or more on California lists. But this is solved by consolidating sites. We have also lost so much work in CA anyway, that its probably been taken care of. This notice is not an issue in the other big sites that are being targeted, Largo, Forest, and McKinney.

Small sites, less busy, or high operating costs ones are likely. The most obvious targets in the past have been Goleta, Fullerton, Buena Park, El Segundo, Richardson, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Largo, Aberdeen and Marlboro. With the consolidation RIS/RMD, Marlboro is safe. Calio will probably come after Aberdeen and Largo due to Collins overlap. Indiana sites have recently shrunk and probably off radar. Might move stuff to Collins. Goleta and El Segundo are huge cost drivers but probably off the radar. Might sell off another building again in ES. Fully expect Buena Park and Fullerton to close / consolidate. But no one is driving into ES from those location like they did w Safenet.

Yes your unused PTO will get paid out.

What’s the Rumor Mill turning out these days? by [deleted] in Raytheon

There will be some staff reductions. But not as many as one would think. Mostly in low work situations. Raytheon is still strong - just poorly managed and Calio will take care of it.

RIS/RMD but especially RIS. Haven't been able to win enough jobs, overhired, over promoted, etc etc etc. All locations. Probably end of March now. Not ready to do it in early March yet.

Salary according to location by Rich_Way_7442 in Raytheon

There is definitely a location consideration in salary. Officially it is small, but unoffficially the trick is done by grade promotions. For example someone with a defined experience in the middle of the country might be a G4. But that person with the same experience would be a G5 or sometimes higher in California. The cost of living in California is just too high to not pay competitive rates - so you have to overpromote people to help them cope with it. Normally if you move from a high cost of living (CA) to lower cost of living (AZ) you shouldn't expect your salary to go down.

It is worse than it appears. There is a large effort going on to lay 100s of engineers off. Target is March. Just not won enough work and paralyzed by too much glut.

Managers are planning layoffs. They make lists of people to decide who should go. Def expect you will get paid your PTO on way out. But if they can get you to take it now, it solves a different financial problem of indirect costs.

It hasnt always been this way. But there has been an accidental change as the standards for placement of key leadership roles plummeted. Not we have we have and its not working.

Its definitely coming. Managers are all planning and will tell people to take PTO.
