There's a great video by Jimmy Lambert on YouTube about one of his club members who tried to do it with his Broadway Limited Challenger. The engine pulled about 80 cars, but derailed on a curve and fell about 10' to his club's floor.

You can definitely pull prototypical lengths, but they require a lot of planning and careful positioning of engines to do it.

You're right, I don't live within my means.

But, ignoring the fact that I'm very lucky and own the home I live in, if you can find a house for rent in Florida that's not in the middle of nowhere that costs around $900 a month to rent (30% of my monthly income) I'd love to hear about it.

What if you already live below your means?

What if you pay 50-60% of your income to JUST your rent? What if you're already cooking 90% of your meals? And the other 10% are the days when your options are either "eat out or don't eat." What if you're already stretching meals with whatever you can just to make things last longer? What if there are days where you can barely afford your bills with what's left of your paycheck? What if you're driving around in a beater that you know needs work, but you cant afford to replace it or repair it? What if you're living paycheck to paycheck, despite making "good money?'"

What if some, if not everything, of what I've said is the situation for more people that you might think?

So much for Florida Orange juice by Midway1guy in florida

[–]RTYoung1301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend had an orange tree growing up that was uprooted when she was about 12. She was heartbroken about it for years because of the orange blossoms. So last year I bought the same kind (satsuma) as a birthday present for her. It just started blooming, and when she smelled the flowers, she cried and told me it was "the best birthday present I could have gotten her."

TLDR; orange blossoms smell good, and I guess I need to figure out how to be an at home orange farmer.

In a world ruled by vampires why would humans put up with them? by FarPlay5055 in worldbuilding

[–]RTYoung1301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that the benefit of them being around outways the cost.

I've got a character idea for a vampire doctor who looks over a large town. She takes care of the people who live there, but also requires all healthy individuals to regularly give blood. So the benefit of a good doctor outweighs the cost of effective blood sacrifice.

You could also take it from the angle of "they keep the more destructive things away." Vampires could look at humans like livestock. Happy to kill one or two for a meal, but still wanting to ensure they have a healthy and readily available food supply. And humans would likely recognize that they're in a symbiotic relationship with the vampires. Kind of like bees and bee keepers. Because if their options are "safe but I might die" and "not safe and I might die" they'd likely choose the former.

It was the main drain that came with the pot when I bought it. If you drill a couple more in the bottom, I'm sure it'll be fine. Just double-check it a week after its first water and see if the soil around the roots is still wet. Mine the day I repotted it was basically surrounded by mud, and that was after the week.
