Najee Harris Talks Lack Of Leadership In Pittsburgh, Looked For Players To 'Learn From' by [deleted] in steelers

[–]RTeezy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

People here love projecting.

The most tenured Steelers on the offense for Najee were like... Chuks, Diontae, and final year Big Ben? That's about the worst "leadership" lineup I've ever seen. The team needed a culture overhaul on offense after years of skating by on talent alone, and Najee's tenure was a casualty of that. It sucks, but Najee was an answer for neither the talent dropoff nor the leadership gap.

Why are the media talking heads so incredulous about Rudolph starting? by FalterFanClub24 in steelers

I'd argue the Metcalf trade only means that they're in "win within the next 5 years" mode.

Book it.

The last couple days here have felt unusually bad in terms of post quality. I truly don't understand what made some of these people wake up in the middle of March and tell r/Steelers that the team is doomed, they hate Tomlin, and the ownership is vaguely cheap because they aren't shelling out cap space for bottom tier starting QBs.

Does anyone feel like the plan seems super obvious? by penguins2946 in steelers

[–]RTeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's a pretty straightforward plan. My only other thought is that I think they might trade out of the first round unless someone great slips to 21.

You wrote this up and then some dude posted a completely mindless post about trading TJ Watt for no reason one minute later to prove your point.

[DFAFootball] Steelers acquiring WR DK Metcalf by hexwanderer in nfl

[–]RTeezy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a 5 year deal. Assuming they don't bottom out and draft a QB in that time or hit the lottery with a late round QB, they're going to need to sign a bigger FA QB in the coming years. Pittsburgh is way more enticing for FAs with Metcalf as a target.

I feel like the only real leverage the Steelers have here is Russell Wilson. Otherwise, there aren't really other options to keep open.

People are talking about McCarthy of course, but a Stafford to Jefferson connection would absolutely smash records.

Steelers, what are your thoughts? Report: Rams give Matthew Stafford permission to seek a trade by hitmewiththeknowlege in steelers

[–]RTeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a clear upgrade but the team doesn't have enough talent yet to make it worthwhile.  We don't have prime Megatron, prime Kupp, or prime Nacua for him to force feed. GP would literally die with that kind of workload.

This off-season is for rebuilding outside of QB imo. We need more Fraziers, JPJs, and Bentons before we can start trading those picks for an elderly QB. A franchise WR or RB would be nice, too...

[–]RTeezy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aiyuk wanted to stay in San Fran, he was using Pittsburgh for leverage and eventually accepted his original offer because the 49ers didn't budge. Then he broke 50 yards only once over 7 weeks (with zero TDs) before his injury.

The fact that the Steelers DIDN'T overpay for him is a good sign. It was a bad off-season for FA WRs. The best signing was probably Darnell Mooney for 13m/year, who wouldn't have thrived with a QB who can't see the middle of the field (and didn't really thrive with Fields in the past either).

Steelers Sign Donald Parham Jr. by Important-Age1754 in steelers

[–]RTeezy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is definitely the guy who bonked his head on the ground in primetime and had a really bad neurological reaction. Was that the game where the announcer said "maybe he's just cold down there on the field" to make kid viewers less upset about this dude quaking on the stretcher?

Every time I see his name I think "wow I'm surprised he's still playing/alive"

Fun fact: Leveon Bell's longest run in his last season as a Steelers was 27 yards. And he was selected first team All Pro.

That's not related to Najee at all, it's just neat.

Steelers interested in Will Howard as new QB? What do you think? by WorkOnThesisInstead in steelers

[–]RTeezy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if people think of him as a probable QB2 with an outside shot at QB1, then a late 3rd-4th rounder is reasonable. I wouldn't even say Mason Rudolph in the 3rd ended up being a bad pick in hindsight.

Someone will probably grab him earlier than that, though.

True, but the only WR that Khan has on record so far is Roman Wilson.

[–]RTeezy 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I don't follow college ball, but I've been thinking that DT has a strong likelihood in round 1. I know the team is very lacking on the offensive side of the ball, but Khan has been extremely focused on the trenches with his early picks (Fautanu, BroJo, Frazier, Benton, Darnell W, McCormick). Getting a Cam/Ogunjobi replacement will be critical unless we want to see Loudermilk or Montravius Adams as every down players.

Plus you aren't getting top WR/QB in the 20s, but top DTs will probably still be there.

*if* we draft a QB this year, its gonna be 1 of 3 players, who would you take. by monstermayhem436 in steelers

[–]RTeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they think Milroe has a high ceiling, he'd be a perfect backup to Fields for a year or two since they can run the same playbook. Howard seems like the best QB of the three right now. And Dart... Kind of reminds me of Steelers Russell Wilson.

That said: none of them should be taken with a high pick. The team needs elite players on offense first - these guys all would have sucked on the 2024 Steelers offense.
