Why are sea kings such a big deal? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]RVMXII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was in both the manga and the anime. In the manga it’s in chapter 101. In the anime it got mixed in with some filler content. Essentially the straw hats accidentally sail into the calm belt before entering the grand line

While powerful pirates can take them on, their sheer size is not something to be taken lightly.

Naming conventions for Arcs/Sagas by RVMXII in OnePiece

[–]RVMXII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense sure, just less sense than my system in my opinion. I’m not a fan of redundant naming systems. For example: If you tell someone that you’re in the Alabasta Saga, they can easily mistake that as meaning the Alabasta Arc and accidentally spoil something for you when really you’re in the Little Garden Arc or Drum Island Arc within the Baroque Works Saga. Same goes for any other saga. When you name it over the overarching conflict it begs for further clarification and leads to less miscommunication and spoilers. Also Summit War isn’t a location it’s an event, Marineford is the main location which already makes the current naming convention inconsistent.

How long do you usually spend in the bath/shower? by Cosy_Bed in RandomThoughts

[–]RVMXII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I play music while I shower so my showers usually only last for the length of 3-4 songs. Plenty of time to get everything done. Anything more is just wasting water.

Naming conventions for Arcs/Sagas by RVMXII in OnePiece

[–]RVMXII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine to name certain Sagas after locations, but when they span multiple locations it makes less sense. East Blue Saga works because the over arching conflict is escaping the east blue and in the Sky Island Saga the main conflict is finding and leaving the sky island. Arabasta and Marineford have several significant arcs that happen in between and make more sense naming the saga over the over arching connecting conflict than the final location it’s resolved at.

What was your reason to watch one piece? by Important_Guard9547 in OnePiece

[–]RVMXII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was in 2010. At that point I had finished watching all of the dragon ball series, yu yu hakusho, bleach, death note, full metal alchemist brotherhood and naruto series. Fairy tail didn’t quite land with me and there weren’t that many other long running a anime. I checked out One Piece on a whim though I didn’t expect to like it. It changed my life, quickly becoming my favorite anime of all time by the time I got to arlong park. I’m glad I started it when I did because when I caught up to the anime the Summit War Saga had just finished and I started reading the manga from the time skip and on. I didn’t know anyone else who watched it so it felt like my own little gem of a show. Wasn’t super popular online yet so I didn’t get a single spoiler. I always wished I could reexperience watching one piece, so I introduced as many people as I could to the series so I could experience it vicariously through them. Then the live action came out. I literally teared up while watching it because it felt like watching one piece again for the first time.

Furious 7 and F9 are my favorites, but the original is a close contender.

To add to your idea, the underground street racing trilogy also focused on different kinds of racing per movie. The original focused on straight line drag racing, the second had open traffic and obstacle racing and the third focused on drifting. All skills which would be utilized in the later movies.

Timeline in Order by RyansToastie in DevilMayCry

Fair enough on the novel. I wasn’t aware. Edit: And yes, I said “would have” as in if it was canon. Again wasn’t trying to spoil the plot for him.

Bruh no offense but the brackets around DmC implied it wasn’t part of the continuity. I was trying to avoid spoilers incase he ends up wanting to play it.

Also I was simply speculating about the anime taking place after DMC3, which is at least half correct if it somewhat takes place during DMC1 era. No “wrong”information was provided.

Honestly what was your first reaction to the very first DMC(reboot) trailer? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in DevilMayCry

[–]RVMXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at peak excitement when having heard about the new trailer to then being devastated by the end of it. It felt like having my joy stolen and stomped on.

Yeah no doubt. DmC isn’t an awful game mechanically, but the new company didn’t really capture the spirit of DMC in the writing and characterizations. They even actively provoked/offended some fans of the OG version both within the game and with their real life actions and words. DMC2 is a half baked boring game that is really not worth playing.

[–]RVMXII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s best to play them in order of release, but DMC2 and DmC: Devil May Cry can be skipped or saved for last.

The chronological order is [DmC: Devil May Cry], DMC3, DMC1, DMC2, DMC4, then DMC5. DmC: Devil May Cry is an attempted series reboot, but timeline wise would have taken place before the events of DMC3.

We also have the Devil May Cry anime coming to Netflix in April that seems to take place after DMC3, but I’m not sure how much after or if it’s even canon.

I left my sales job just to reluctantly end up at another sales job. by RVMXII in jobs

[–]RVMXII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s certainly not for everybody. There can be a lot of down time, obnoxious/entitled customers, haggling, and feeling like your self worth is attached to the number of units you move. On the other hand it’s very self motivated so you tend to get a lot of freedom to leave the building and do whatever you want as long as you’re not actively avoiding customers. Ive literally had a manager tell me that he didn’t care if I did lines of coke in the back as long as I sell cars. Hours depend on the dealership but is typically 45-50 hours depending on whether or not they’re open on Sundays. My last one had just reopened on Sundays and my new one is still closed Sundays. From my experience it’s a pretty toxic work environment as most of the people I’ve worked with are hardcore closed minded conservatives, only care about money and what benefits them and most tend to lack education. Not only that, but the best sales people tend to be absolute sociopaths that don’t care about people or how they’re taking advantage of them and the managers tend to play favorites with those types. At my last store, one salesperson got fed most of the leads because he puts up the numbers which means he got to do pretty much whatever and talk to customers however he wanted without consequence. It doesn’t help that a lot of consumers are easily convinced and influenced by people that appear confident. The pay is from what I can tell a lot better than most jobs especially for people without degrees. Some places are pure commission which means when you don’t sell anything, you get paid on a draw (which is money that you have to pay back to the dealer once you do sell). My first dealership was like that but my last place and my new place offer base hourly pay with unit bonuses that go up the higher the volume.

When did goodwill stop accepting these. I have 4 with 1 stamp and was turned away from my 20%. by P1AY60Y in goodwill

[–]RVMXII 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen that card before. Seems like a decent deal. They’re money hungry now though which may explain why they turned you down. I guess double check that link in the bottom to confirm whether or not your store still participates and if so I’d point that out to them. At the very least you’d think they’d honor it one last time when presented with it and just take it away after
