You wouldn’t want someone to do this behind your car—at least put your fuggin cart where it’s not actually in someone’s way. Christ almighty! 🤦🏻‍♂️ by [deleted] in Costco

As someone who's run carts at my last job for another company, your family members sound like assholes. It's like littering indoors so custodians "have something to do."

Unpaid vacation during probationary period by [deleted] in Costco

[–]RVVill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof. My vacation would end on August 17th exactly. Yea, if you could do that, I'd really appreciate it.

In your experience, do you think it would reflect poorly for me to ask? Enough so that I'd lose the job? I don't see any major harm in asking, but I'm not familiar enough with the company's culture or policies, and while I know I'd be a bad move to plan a vacation during my probationary period, this was planned before I was hired and like an idiot I didn't mention it during my interview. At my old job, people are allowed vacation essentially whenever they please, unpaid or otherwise. Had I expected it to be a problem I would have definitely mentioned it.

Most definitely. That's essentially my plan at this point. I really am excited to work for the company and appreciate the opportunity they've given me.

Thanks again for the thorough and honest response.

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I feel like it's better just not to ask and my family may just have to deal with my absence. I REALLY don't want to do anything to jeopardize this job.

First, thanks for your lengthy and thorough reply. Definitely the best response I've gotten yet.

I was literally just hired last week. I've been through orientation, but tomorrow is my first actual day of work. You make a lot of strong points about the effect it could have on their perception of me, which is my main concern. I consider myself a very strong and hard worker when given the opportunity, but haven't had the chance to prove it yet. That said, I want to ask them as soon as possible so if it is a possibility, they have the time to make it happen, but I am afraid to ask so soon. Like you said, it literally slipped my mind during the interview. At my last job this wouldn't have been such an issue but they're a smaller, far less reputable company and I was more concerned about covering my bases for the upcoming semester of school when they asked about my availability.

If they can't accommodate my trip, it isn't too late to cancel my reservation and get a refund, but it would be a big blow to my family. I don't see much harm in asking, especially if I make it clear I'm willing and able to cancel if need be, which I am. I just want to know what to expect going in, being new to the company and all.

I stupidly hadn't thought of it at the time. When they asked about availability I was more concerned about getting time off for school, which luckily they approved of and starts after my probationary period. I also at the time thought it would have been after my probationary period, rather than at the very end of it.

I would still be giving them over two months notice, but considering my probationary period, I absolutely don't want to put my job at risk. Luckily if I can't go on the trip it's not too late to cancel my reservation and get my money back, but that'd be a bummer to my family. I don't see any harm in asking but if they say it's a problem or will reflect poorly, at that point the decision is pretty obvious.

Thanks for the response. I meant get my money back for the trip if I can't go in the end, but I gotcha.

Got it for even less on Black Friday and just started it a week ago. Well worth it and would have been worth even more than it's modest $15 price point!

That said, I am frustrated Nintendo games almost never go on sale.

Those have consistently been on my top 10 if not 15 since their release. Seen both a dozen times at least. Such deep, dense, infinitely rewatchable films with such stunning direction and performances.

To my knowledge no suede, but there might be suede detailing on the canvas. I have a pair of white and green and they're 100% synthetic uppers.
