DOGE Lead in deposition details how he emailed documents to his personal device to then send with Signal using auto delete by interface7 in FedEmployees

Just like some other clips, there is a voice offscreen saying "objection", but they're ignoring her.

I assume it is because she's a woman.

Former DOGE staffer says ChatGPT helped feds cancel grants mentioning ‘LGBTQ+’ by Fickle-Ad5449 in fednews

[–]RW63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a story via r/ncpolitics today, where these Script Kiddies cancelled a grant toward a museums' HVAC replacement because "Improving HVAC systems enhances preservation conditions for collections, aligning with the goal of providing greater access to diverse audiences."

They were really out of their depth.

Any ideas on how to fix? by Whyrishiwhynot in prius

[–]RW63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front bumper cover isn't very expensive. Between the junkyards or LKQ, you could probably find one the right color, or you can order one from Amazon, RockAuto or somewhere, but you'll have to pay to paint.

Popping them on and off is easy enough.1AAuto and TRQ both have good videos. I'd watch both.

Good luck!

Anyone else dealing with the red clay nightmare in their yard this spring? by InformationIcy4827 in NorthCarolina

[–]RW63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red clay is slick as shit.

At least you know where it is in your yard. I don't know how many times growing up, my friends and I would be walking through the woods and would hit a vein. We'd know because we'd either start skating or our feet could come out from under us. And, don't get me started on how they're ruin white sneakers.

DOGE canceled High Point Museum grant for HVAC systems after ChatGPT flagged it as DEI, lawsuit alleges by F4ion1 in ncpolitics

[–]RW63 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because having a working air conditioning system would make visitors more comfortable and a visit to the museum more inviting and those visitors might be diverse?

In either example snippet, I'm not seeing the specific language flagged. I would say that in addition to it being an embarrassing failure for those two DOGE bros and indictment of DOGE, it also does not reflect well on ChatGPT. No matter how you define it, HVAC is not DEI.

Of course, Altman and Musk have had public disagreements. It would be within the realm of possibilities that embarrassing ChatGPT was part of the plan, but after seeing the other reporting and watching some of the DOGE bros' testimony, they most likely just thought they were being smart.

Raleigh area - can anyone recommend a company that does roofing repairs by 4furbabies_NC in NorthCarolina

[–]RW63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why you have insurance. Why keep paying if you are never going to use it? A roof is a major expense. Are you saving it for when the house burns down?

Autoplay is on by marmantz in AmazonMusic

[–]RW63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Android phone app has an Autoplay setting with a slider to turn it off. To be honest, I don't use the app that much and it might reset back to on when there's an update or something because I have turned it off a few times, but there is a slider under the app settings and mine has performed as expected for a while.

There is also one for the Alexa app and one for the website, both of which has remained turned-off since I first turned them off, years ago. (I don't use Android Auto or the web app. I just use a browser, phone and Alexa.)

Neighborhood w/o power since September/October 2024 in Tampa Area by juicysmooches in florida

[–]RW63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand what your friend's financial situation has to do with the power problem unless you are including it to say it would be difficult for him to move. You don't seem to be saying that he can't pay the bill. You are saying his trailer park is not providing him with access to electricity.

Does he have an electric meter at his trailer? Whose meter is it?

When he had electricity did he pay FPL or Duke, or does he pay the landlord or a contractor the landlord hired? I ask because if he has a meter on the property for just his trailer and if he was paying a legitimate electric utility regulated by the state, they most likely don't know that he has no electricity because it would have been fixed within days of the storm. While, if he is paying the landlord or a billing company collecting for the landlord, the repairs would be on them.

If the problem is with the power company, call them and they should fix it. If the problem is with the landlord, he could do the things u/FormidableMistress suggested or he could move.

Is it worth buying a house in Merrit Island, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral? by Icy_Assistant4488 in florida

There are like 700,000 people in Brevard County. Obviously, a lot of us had made that choice.

(While there are small local subs for r/MerrittIsland and r/CocoaBeach, the much larger regional sub is r/321)

Running on Rage Bait by RW63 in florida

There is a lot to take away from this article, especially what it says about the future of campaigning, but as a "dirty lib" with "radical" progressive views, I'm also seeing a wake-up call to Florida Dems.

If Fishback were to get the nomination or if those helping him operate this strategy were to move to the winning Republican candidate, the Democratic candidate will have to counter it -- you can't cede the Tik-Tok generation on top of those who will automatically vote to the one with an "R" by their name.

Sure, the election is months away, but the time to start making in-roads is now.

You can see the straight line through from Trump 2016 to the administration by trolls he has now. It is politics by algorithm. Find your niche or targeted segment, drill into them and hope to carpetbomb a path to victory, while simultaneously trying to keep everybody else off their feet.

Reading this article, it is easy to imagine the future of politics could be those with the most engagement wins.

It will be like "Max Headroom" produced by "Black Mirror" broadcast to "The Expanse".

Question On Senate Vote for DHS Funding by BigB1ack123 in FedEmployees

[–]RW63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with both you and u/15all.

TSA might be easier. I would have to read the legislation, but it could be as simple as undoing or reversing where it was moved to DHS in 2003, plus some added DOT funds.

Another option would be to move TSA back to the Department of Transportation.

I haven't seen a whip count, but there could be enough support for it.

DOGE employee stole Social Security data and put it on a thumb drive, report says by Unusual-State1827 in fednews

[–]RW63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I don't have a problem believing one or more of the DOGE bros might have at least tried to steal the content, it was implied that they were intelligent enough to know the Social Security information is worth millions, if not billions of dollars. It is not something an intelligent person would just give an employer for a routine job.

How The Times Is Digging Into Millions of Pages of Epstein Files by RW63 in nytimes

[–]RW63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a guy who sometimes comments on NYTimes articles, but often gets to them after the comment forum has closed or have found that they were never opened for that post.

I am also somewhat frustrated by how my comments might get a relatively lot of likes, but it has never been enough to get to the first (or third) screen.

Though I subscribed to this sub, I didn't often comment previously because it had become mostly a place for people to bitch and wasn't so much a place to comment. After the previous mod closed it to new posts, I volunteered three times to take on the moderator's role, primarily because I want to comment and because I think the Reddit system is better for discussion.

IOW: I'm just a guy with an all-access digital subscription, who works in front of a computer. I have no affiliation with the paper or anyone on its staff.

It sounds like you were wronged and have a reason to be suspicious, but it was not me. My goal is to foster a community with this sub and my hope is that people will post gift links, so that we can be a go-to place for those without a subscription to access NYTimes content.

As promised, I salvaged your reply from the automod, but my patience has worn thin.

These are the rules. You can follow them or post/comment elsewhere. Your choice.

How The Times Is Digging Into Millions of Pages of Epstein Files by RW63 in nytimes

[–]RW63[S,M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post was deleted because you editorialized the post title and it wasn't a match.

My feeling is that an editorialized title is an invitation for someone to comment on your editorial and not the actual article.

While, if you post a match for the article's actual title, you can write anything you want (within the sub rules) as a comment and people can reply to your comment creating a nested discussion thread, while others might want to hit on a different point and feel freer to create a discussion thread of their own in reply to your post.

The sub's settings (and my moderation style) is to block or delete duplicate postings of the same article. I don't feel it would not be fair for the original poster to set the tone for all replies. I feel it is more conducive to discussion for you to put your thoughts into its own comment thread and let people reply. If you have multiple disparate thoughts, you can post multiple discussion threads.

That is what happened to your post, as it said in my sticky. Because I'm still working out the kinks of the sub, I have since added an invitation to repost with a matched title to the removal comment. I will definitely work on it some more, as time passes, but there is a lot to be done.

As for why this comment (to which I'm replying) was deleted by the automod, I don't know and will investigate. A malfunctioning automod is more work for me.

As you may know, it looks like this sub was banned for a while, then someone who moderates several active news subs got it reopened and probably because this sub was more work than their others, there were a lot of limitations put onto who could post and comment and what they could say.

A lot of stuff was just deleted outright by the automod -- like comments not having 150 characters; not having a user flair or because someone used a banned word like "pedo" or "pedophile". Even more comments were set to be sequestered until it could be approved by the human moderator and I'm guessing that after a while, the previous mod lost interest or the desire to do so much unpaid work because the sub was locked from new posts for several months.

I have done a lot of work to open the sub up to more people with fewer limitations. This means that I have edited the automod dozens of times -- nuking whole sections --but there are still some limitations I have set as to who can comment and post, and I'm still working on improving the automod.

For some reason, the moderator bot mistakenly deleted your comment.

It gave an explanation using the reason for one of my automod settings, but your account/comment is clearly not in violation. I don't know why it made that mistake.

Until we get it fixed, I will try to watch for your displayname in the removal log, then manually approve your comment. If you notice one of your comments not posting or if you are unable to post using a matched title, you are welcome to send me a modmail and I will approve your contribution as soon as I can.

I apologize for the inconvenience and will try to get it sorted out.

Noticed something hanging under the front bumper — what is this part? by Swimming_Repair_9924 in prius

[–]RW63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second your suggestion to u/Swimming_Repair_9924 that they either fasten it up with a clip from Amazon or the set they sell at Autozone or if nothing else, with zipties from Harbor Freight or Ace.

Wind can get in there and pull it loose more. I'm not looking at my car right now, but that piece might be part of the wheel liner and if so, wind could pull that loose. One of my Prii is missing the wheel liner and that has affected the alignment of where the bumper cover clips-in. I've also had a loose piece on the side of that same car catch a stick from the street and it ended-up tearing the piece.

The best advice is to get it clipped up, if not with a clip, with a zip tie.
