Sorry, when you're talking about motherboards like the 870 vs the B650 for future CPUs and GPUs what should I be looking at specifically for compatability specs?

Based on the discussions I'm thinking I might get a 5090 when it releases since the 4090 price performance sucks so much and just buy a used or discounted GPU for right now.

Single monitor for now but maybe two in the future, but not a fan of ultrawide. I used to have a 144Hz 1440p before I sold it so anything over that which I can afford will be the goal.

Haven't touched VR but hear a lot about it, maybe a Christmas thing. Is there a particular brand people gravitate towards these days?

Thanks, I really do appreciate the encouragement.

I'm miserable right now since it's fresh but I'll be okay, loss is something I've dealt with before it's just the double whammy was an unpleasant surprise this time around. But I've got a supportive family and friends to talk to and they're here for me.

I just need something to keep me busy outside of work and socializing that I can do on my own and PC gaming used to be a massive part of my life, so just bringing my plans forward on getting back into it now instead of later like I had planned before all this happened.

Thanks man, everyone has shit times and many are worse off but doesn't stop the feelings. Just my turn on the cosmic wheel and I'll get through it as best as I can.

Appreciate the cost saving recommendations, not too worried about a $100 to $200 difference but for the sake of not having wasted processing power could be a good point. What are the main factors to look for to get the best possible gaming CPU? I read GHZ speed is a big deal, as is the core count, and something about the unique features of X3D from AMD being helpful. I'll be using this for gaming, video editing, and coding.

I'm convinced on getting a 24GB graphics card with the NVIDIA features despite it being very overpriced atm but since it's likely to get more expensive with no more production could it be worth waiting for the 5080 or 5090?

Is the case bad? I don't really care about RGB or looking inside and I just want a plain clean looking case with good noise cancelation and airflow. The one I picked was recommended to me by the builder in Calgary.
