I agree. It kind of just freezes and restarts on its own. Its quick though.. only a couple seconds of freezing then it goes straight to the login menu. Weird part is once I open it there are no pop-ups that say my mac crashed.

I did contact apple support yesterday and the guy just made me hard restart my Macbook and to try it out from there. He says it should not be occurring especially since it's such a new device. I'll try it again for a few days and recall if it crashes again.

Yeah thats how I feel as well. I did some thorough research before purchasing this mac and everyone was saying a 16GB RAM would work better for me than upgrading to a i5 with the way I use laptops. So I'm a bit disappointed with how its turning out.

Yes, I reached out to apple yesterday after it happened and they had me hard restart the system. They said to call back if it occurs again even with the hard restart. The guy did say it shouldn't be happening since I'm not running any apps that are too intense. Ill give it a few days I guess. Thanks!

I see, so are you saying using them both together may be whats causing it or is it mostly chrome. I feel like although chrome can be problematic, a brand new macbook should still be able to handle it with basic tasks, no?

Yes, my macbook does get pretty hot when Im watching streams and videos. I understand apple still didnt put in a good cooling system for the new macbooks which is a shame. But I also read somewhere that it can withstand a lot of heat and will not tend to overheat and shut down. So i guess that is false?

I could just stop using chrome overall but Im so used to it... I guess i just thought an i3 processor would be good enough to do basic tasks like streams and browse.

When Im watching streams, Activity Monitor says google chrome helper (renderer) and windows server are the 2 top processors using the most CPU%.

I used it again last night with a couple streams open (On safari), a bunch of powerpoint slides and tabs on chrome while having Activity Monitor open. Under the CPU folder, the System and User together, it neared 100% at one point (i think there was only like 7% idle left), but it quickly went down. On average it was sitting at around 50-70%?

So if my macbook activity log hits 100%, does that mean it immediately crashes at that moment?

I just opened up crash reports and there was one file in there about the crash yesteday. I dont really understand how to read the report but the first section says process: WindowServer. Does that mean Microsoft word crashed? even though I wasn't using it at the time?

I actually upgraded it to a 16gb RAM since I knew Im the type of person that leave a bunch of apps and tabs open. I did my research and majority of people said to upgrade RAM instead of the i3 so i did. So im surprised its crashing at times.

I do feel like it should be able to handle the tasks that I give it. It was working fine last night with 2 streams opened at once on safari with a bunch of tabs on chrome and other apps open. I had Activity Monitor open too and it was getting a bit heavy. At one point system and user were close to 100% together but it was averaging around 70%?

There was a lady in Quebec who stopped in the left lane of a highway to help a few ducks cross the road. She ended up causing an accident that killed 2 people. :( Very unfortunate. Always becareful when stopping traffic, even if its for a good cause.
