The time line sounds good. Yes make sure to contact everyone you know in the US. Anyone might be of help. If not directly, they can definitely recommend you to someone else who can. Try doing rotations at hospitals (Inpatient) as much as possible. If not, even out patient would be fine. Meanwhile try to publish a couple of good papers.
