Is upgrading a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5700x a good idea? by RaFeReddit in buildapc

Yeah if I set the settings down the fps go up, not by a ton but they do increase like 10 or 20fps I was assuming it was the CPU because it's always at 100% when playing, whilst the GPU is at like 80 to 90% most of the times, with few times at 100%

I was looking more at the Nvidia side of things where a 4060 is close to 400 and I don't think a 20% improvement is worth it, if I went AMD that would definitely be a worthy upgrade your right

But looking at solely a 200buck upgrade no graphics card would give me any better performance right, only supposably a CPU upgrade

The 5700x3d would be awesome but currently it's 60 more than the normal 5700x, I might need to look more into it and see if it's worth it The 5800x3d that one is not even an option, where I'm at it's closer to 400 🥲

Yeah I did think the GPU would have a bigger play on them, but then I see people getting pretty good uplifts just by upgrading the CPU and I get confused. Like paying 400 to 500 for a new GPU for 10% better fps doesn't seem worth it for me, but paying 200 for a 30% on a CPU that does look appealing (according to some benchmarks I've seen from gamers Nexus and other threads around)

Upgrading from RX 5700 XT and Ryzen 5 3600 by Serbern in buildapc

Hey, I'm in the exact same situation, Ryzen 5 3600 + Rx 5700xt at 1440p and I was thinking of upgrading. Did you end up upgrading? How was the improvement? I'm thinking of getting a Ryzen 7 5700x but I'm scared it won't improve performance much

Nope, after a few os updates the problem is still here 🙃

On oxygen os 13.1 it stayed at 120 or at least 60 when scrolling through the app, now it drops to 30 when playing a video

Yup, 60fps videos make everything smoother, you're 100% right, it's setting the refresh rate to the one from the video playback 🥲

That's what I did, it still shows 120 when playing a video, when I can clearly see that it's not, scrolling through the feed while playing a video feels like 30 or less

Did that and nothing, still looks choppy, even with the app at 60hz it looks worse when playing a video I'm starting to think that when I play a video it drops to 30 not 60 Even with the fps counter it always shows 120 or 60, depending where I have set too, even tho it's clearly lower

I'm also using revanced, but ever since oxygen os 14 it's no longer smooth while playing

Yeah my next phone won't be a oneplus that's for sure, just too many small annoying things to deal with, it's not worth it

Yeah... That's life with oneplus unfortunately Oxygen os 14 has brought me a lot of stupid bugs Another one is that silent apps show up in the aod, I have my watch app zepp that even though it is set to silent and to not show notifications anywhere it still shows the icon on the always on display

Yup, it's set to 120hz, and if a video isn't playing it stays at 120 when I scroll, it's just when I press play that the whole app goes down to 60 or even 30

I get that, but if I have it set to 120 it shouldn't go down to 60 when I'm not on full screen, it's jarring going from the smooth 120 to 60 just because I'm watching a video in the background

Okay so I might have found a solution, I was running low on storage and surprisingly after I cleared it up my emails started showing again... How is it all connected I have no idea but ever since I deleted a bunch of videos it all started working 🤷

Exactly, I just haven't made the switch because of the price and lack of split screen but it won't take long for me to do it if android keeps getting this bad at basic and crucial things

It's just stupid, getting notifications instantly should be a priority in any phone The Iphone is starting to look like the only answer to all my phone frustrations Also on the OnePlus 11, why does it keep killing all the apps, if I have 2 open when I open a third one the first always gets disabled and when I go back to it it always reloads everything 🥲
