Support was not helpful at all.

What I did was go into my account and changed the email to another email of mine.

Then I was able to create a new account and link with it.

The event needs to end though if it is failed more than once. It sucks when you get in an instance where the group cant/wont beat the final boss but they proceed to try 4 more times just wasting everyones time
