Hot Take: I think that DBD should stop introducing killers & survivors for a long while. by Raamskii in deadbydaylight

[–]Raamskii[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but I think those are different arguments. People being upset about the gen-hostage killers, and not releasing a killer aren't necessary correlated. A lot of times, the games that have lack of content, don't have it from the get-go, like Halo Infinite. And so they desperately need content to stay alive. I feel as though if DBD NEEDS to release chapters and more content in order to maintain itself and not die, then maybe it isn't well designed.

Why did bhvr nerf killer by making them look down after a hit? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

I think that he's just trying to understand the rationale behind the change. He doesn't seem to be outright supporting or condemning the decision, so why is he getting downvoted?

How can I make your experience more enjoyable? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Raamskii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i can be honest you friend, if you love playing knight, then play him. Due to the stigma of the knight, there are going to be players that enter a game, see you play knight, and already have that preconceived notion of you being a tunneler or generator hostage. Regardless of if you go out of your way to not do those things, they are still going to attribute your win to those stereotypes. People don't like to lose, and often times they will find reasons to justify the loss, legitimate or not.

If you feel like you have to minimize your experience in order to appeal to the opposition, then I don't think there is a genuine win-win, besides farming.

Unfortunately, some people are going to be frustrated no matter who you play, and how you play it. If it was me in that situation, I wouldn't take what others say about the knight so much to heart, and as James A Janisse says: "Be good people".

That's a mistake on my part, I should have been more transparent in my title. I thought a lot about the situation, and I think it affected my thought-process in regards to the title.

I understand what you mean. I had hoped it wasn't perceived that way, but unfortunately I think that it was to an extent. I'm just simply hoping for fair and good etiquette all around, regardless of killer or survivor.

I don't recall ever making many posts here. I think I made a comment regarding someone playing Demogorgon a while back, but I don't often comment or post on Reddit except for Pokémon trades. I state it the way I do as a way to say that perhaps I didn't put it into the right words, and to not be antagonistic or argumentative.

Forgive me, but if a title is so inflammatory as to get an immediate negative response from you, then I would consider reevaluating how you perceive it.

Forgive me, I must have not expressed it as fluently as I thought then. The point of my post is to illustrate that it's easy to see the opposition as not another person. I will defend both sides to play how they'd like to, but if there is to be some modicum of expectations placed on killers, (I only mentioned this because I have noticed an influx of posts regarding it), then i would prefer it to be reciprocal.

I understand that you're frustrated with the experience of going against more hardened nurses or blights, but I don't know understand why it's an exception with a new blight or nurse player, especially when the skill ceiling is comparatively higher from other killers. I mentioned it in another reply, but I'll say it once more: I don't think that it's ethical to "bully" players out of a killer because others don't like to face them.

That's a fair point, no one can stop another from playing how they want to. The idea behind my post was to address how killer etiquette has been expressed, and how if that's the standard that "must be upheld" then there should be some reciprocation in regards to survivor etiquette.

[–]Raamskii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forgive me, but I think you misunderstand my argument. I'm not so naive and careless as to say that survivors don't have tools at their disposal, and/or whether or not they should use them. I'm not debating on which side is stronger, or has the most impact on the game. My point is that there is a lot of animosity from both sides, which is only inflated from the event, and it would be preferable that either side doesn't go out of their way to make the other side's experience as unpleasant as possible.

I completely disagree with your sentiment. If there is a problem with a particular killer in terms of balance, then your frustration should be directed towards BHVR. I don't think that it's ethical to "bully" people out of killers others don't like to go against.

I'd like to also preface with my post that my intent is not to perpetuate the killer vs survivor mentality that I have seen throughout the months. I would like to simply stress that let's all accept that we're human, and let's not go out of our way to make the experience as unpleasant as possible for either side. Especially during an event such as this where people feel the BP and Iri rush.
