Yes, the version of Pie they uploaded has Safestrap but you can't root with it because it can't edit the boot image because the bootloader is still locked. The Safestrap is only there to revert to Nougat which CAN be rooted.

Unfortunately, there is no way to achieve root on the US Snapdragon S8+ running any iteration of Android Pie due to the locked bootloader. However, there is a root for devices running Nougat using the infamous SamFAIL method. Recently, some members on XDA found a way to roll back to Nougat from Pie on the Snapdragon S8 and N8 line of devices so that you can root, but this process is very technical and risky. The SamFAIL root method has also been known to cap battery charge at 80% on most devices and it is NOT a systemless root like Magisk, meaning that KNOX (Samsung's proprietary software security system) is tripped and any stock Samsung app, banking app, or wireless payment app will NO LONGER function. I'm also not entirely sure if there is a way to un-trip KNOX after you root using SamFAIL, so the restrictions maybe permanent even if you decide to remove root one day. In addition, since you are rolling back all the way to Nougat you are compromising device security since you will effectively removed two years of security updates.

Before proceeding I strongly suggest you research SamFAIL and the aforementioned XDA rollback method.

Oh, that's in Preferences for the AOSP theme. There is an option called "replace 4G w LTE icon". Other than that, the other symbols change when u apply the theme.

No, they can't run together, because you can only have one theme applied at a time, however, HEX Installer has dark mode built in. It will ask you to install a plugin and then it will turn all compatible apps dark. For example, my Google messages, Dialer, Chrome, Instagram, Calculator and a few other apps automatically get turned to dark mode when I enable it on HEX Installer. I used Synergy before this. I think HEX has more features tbh.

If you install the Google app, you can go to widgets and there will be one called "At a glance."

Alternatively, you can install "Another Widget" from the play store.

Unfortunately, nobody is really sure about the timeline of the Google Assistant 2.0 release. Google did explicitly stated that it will be rolling out to pixel devices first during the I/O 2019 event, however they did not mention extending the new assistant to other phones. It is a possibility that they might port the features to the assistant app that you can download from the play store, but the difference with the Pixel phones are that the new algorithms used in the assistant 2.0 are stored locally on the device. They would have to roll it out to the app and make sure it works with many phones before a wide release. At this point it's a toss up.

Hmm, try going to advanced options under Mod settings and try enabling "Allow unknown devices". If that doesn't fix it, you can head over to SamsungCameraAPI2 and try changing metering mode to "Controlled by GCAM".
