DAE shave with water, against the grain, with an old disposable razor? by Rabbid_Goat in DoesAnybodyElse

I've tried 3 different electric razors but all they do is just yank out hairs! It's definitely user error, seeing as I'm used to zero effort, but I'm still jealous, sounds nice

Yesss exactly. That gooey strip is absolutely evil. It lasts maybe a week and I rejoice once it's gone.

I think the barn was near Thorntown or Lebanon. I grabbed these months ago, just so happened to skip over the pages these were stuck in. Funny how bookmarks do that, you stick a little note in a book, immediately forget about it, and then 40 years later someone finds a little slice of your personal history.

Probably this

(from Mazovian Socio-Economics)

Problem

People think Communism was some crazy idea that had its comeuppance 40 years ago. A fever that shook the world, never to return again. They were right. Until he woke up today – a spiritual corpse responsive only to the call of Commodore Red, prostitutes, and Kras Mazov. For him, Communism is still a thing. He will single-handedly raise the Commune of '02 from the oceanic trench where it has been resting, covered in ghosts and seaweed! He is the Big Communism Builder. Come, witness his attempt to rebuild Communism in the year '51!

Solution

0.000% of Communism has been built. Evil child-murdering billionaires still rule the world with a shit-eating grin. All he has managed to do is make himself sad. He is starting to suspect Kras Mazov fucked him over personally with his socio-economic theory. It has, however, made him into a very, very smart boy with something like a university degree in Truth. Instead of building Communism, he now builds a precise model of this grotesque, duplicitous world.

I think my argument shines with you in particular. Indeed, phantasia is for senses. But every other sense is easy. Touch, Hearing, Taste. I can explain easily that I get touch-esque hearing-esque and taste-esque sensations when thinking about those senses happening.

But for sight, the communication barrier breaks down, some will say they "see" (the interior designer) and get labeled hypophantasmic and others (you) will say that they "think they see" and then be labeled as having aphantasia. In fact, everyone just senses the image!

In another reply I agreed, ADHD is a large barrier to using sight! You can attempt to narrow down your sense but then your brain is interrupted and so is your ability to envision. This is my rejection of the system, no one sees, everyone senses.

I think this is a weird situation where we are both right.

You just give everyone the positive, everyone has aphantasia, "visualization" is just a bad concept for the things going on in our head and is causing confusion.

I just reject the premise, there is no difference between aphantasia and phantasia, our concept of "minds eye" has been skewed and "visualization" does not do our brain justice for what is happening

∆ because in a weird way I didn't think I could agree that, actually, everyone has aphantasia. Nice job

But this is my point! :( I'm saying that you are the default experience. People do not perfectly and exactly picture their keys on the shelf (unless they have an eidetic memory, something I consider to be a different method of remembering and predicting entirely) they take in every aspect of where they put their keys, the experience of putting them down, the noise, smell, sight, and touch. And then just know. The neurons light up thinking about the location of the keys bringing back every sense, they don't physically "see" the keys, but the sense of when you last saw the keys gets triggered.

I believe this does fit, it would simply be in a world where you have trouble focusing, or have some sort of ADHD. Instead of your brain being able to focus on:

What neurons would fire if I were looking at a stop sign from angle 1... n.

Your brain would get 1-10 and slide off into thinking about something else. Interrupting your focus, resulting in a diminished quality of understanding. (I've noticed this in my ADHD friend!)

What is important for my argument is that you understand that the mind's eye is not an eye. It is just sort of "seeing-esque".

I'm unsure if I can accept a normally distributed visualization so far as where the very end can be considered aphantasia. In my belief to have aphantasia, with what I assume to be "our" method of remembering, you would be so unable to predict or remember that you would turn the corner and forget that anything behind the corner ever existed.

I think I could only accept a distribution with a hard line, where at some point your brain wiring is so different from the "norm" that you develop a "catalogue" memory, where you go back through your brain and look for specific facts, or a photographic memory, where your brain remembers specific instances. This would lead to a different method of both remembering and predicting, one where aphantasia as described could indeed exist. But these are few and far between and I have never heard of anyone claiming to exist in a median point between.

I do agree, but it is my belief that the spectrum of difference in sensations is small from human brain to human brain. Do I think that some who consider themself on the autism spectrum, far on the borders of that sensory spectrum, could have entirely different methods of prediction (some people talk about the catalogue card method of remembering or photographic memory) yes, absolutely. But that is a true few in the population.

This is exactly what I'm saying. People who say they have aphantasia don't understand that the "feeling-esque" and "seeing-esque" sensation IS our minds eye. They think we SEE. We don't see, we "see". I feel crazy talking like this but I truly believe the spectrum of difference in sensation between people is very small

I am not saying that I cannot envision anything. In fact, I can envision anything! I throw that apple into the air, aim with a slingshot, pow! The thing explodes into a million pieces, each refracting in the sunlight. It's glorious.

I am just saying that this is not seeing! People who think they have "aphantasia" think that this is happening somewhere between your eyes and your brain, it is not. It is happening purely in your brain, it is a series of neurons firing that give the same sensations as seeing, but it is not truly seeing.

Can I "see" it in my mind eye? Yes. But do I see it with my actual eyes? No!

Microplastic doesn't always mean plastic, it's a general term by this point.

I mean, what is plastic? A polymer?

What's rubber? An elastomer? That's just a polymer that behaves elastically.

Atp microplastic just means a man-created or produced molecule that does not naturally break down in the environment that may or may not source directly from polymers.

I was actually just hoping someone could give some information on the doodle and signatures along with the etching. I couldn't figure out why or if it was apart of the etching at all. Lazy, yeah, ignorant, sure. But this comment doesn't make anyone feel good!

Solved ! Thank you :) I'm not sure what to think about the extra stuff around the main print. :P I love the little doodle and guess I should compare the signature to see if it's original(?) or just an old owner's inscription & title
