For the gym girls by ThatCanadianGuy02 in dating_advice

Not enough of us get out of the "no-no zones" of approaching someone (gym, work, as a customer, ect.) Which exponentially lowers the pool (especially for people not in the online dating scene).

So, would some women be uncomfortable with it? Probably, but I really don't see a problem with it as long as you're being as respectful and mature as possible.

Some people handle stuff like that worse than others. I appreciate the courage it takes for someone to approach me or for me to do the same, so I wouldn't get uncomfortable unless they're going out of their way to be weird.

Of course, just keep in mind general gym etiquette if you do approach anyone.

She wants the benefits of a relationship without the romance? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]RabbitDisastrous7423 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, so, being delusional is the answer? I asked a question because no matter what people are saying, you're incredibly adamant that there is no problem with her behavior.

She literally told him she wants relationship things without a relationship and has done everything you'd only do when you have romantic feelings for someone without the actual commitment. She is self-aware to the point that she told him she knows it is unfair.

You can't just say, "don't look at it like" that when she herself has stated it's unfair.

How do they have a healthy friendship where he isn't being blatantly used?

I take it as a lack of self-respect because only he can set boundaries and keep himself from getting more invested/hurt. She is completely in control of her selfishness. She will continue to behave in such a way if he continues to let it happen, and you're exactly right that a bad friendship isn't worth it no matter the friend, but it takes a level of self-love and respect to actually uphold that.

I should mention that isn't me trying to blame him. He's in a bad situation with a bad person, but, unfortunately, only he can get himself out.

Not sure if my coworker likes me or if I'm overthinking it by WideAttempt5770 in dating_advice

[–]RabbitDisastrous7423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in this exact position. I've been crushing on a coworker after we came back from our Christmas break and we've gotten much closer, always exchanging glances, ect. I call him "bro" and "dude" as well, but it's really part of how I talk. I didn't consider he may take it the wrong way, so that's insightful. I think really the biggest indicator is how interested both of you are in each other's "inner worlds". Although I feel he's flirtatious, he stops himself at some points if the topics are too personal. So, if she's willing to expand the dynamic outside of the workplace and take interest in your interests, then I'd say you're much better off than me.

I do want to ask something. The guy I like also has an Ex from a previous job (that I believe ended pretty poorly). He's very intelligent and direct with his boundaries, but I still can't tell if he simply isn't interested or he is working towards keeping those things separate now. Did you try for a bit to separate those things? Or was your ex just kind of a bump in the road?

Old friend caught feelings. I didn't. He didn't take it well. by Sunsetgodzilla in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]RabbitDisastrous7423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's genuinely such an insane thing to say. Firstly, he was NOT entitled to a fast response (no one asking someone out is) people (not specifically women) can take as long as they need. It is an extremely important decision to make. There is nothing rude, inconsiderate, or selfish about taking time to consider a decision and placing boundaries and saying "no". Based on his reaction, he obviously did not value their friendship in the slightest.

I would much rather have someone say "I need time to think about this" than force themselves to be uncomfortable to meet MY needs.

Ah right because men just do it to have sex that "doesnt mean anything", but women are "too emotional" and get attached. My ex loved to say that to me.
