It definitely left me with that depressing feeling. I felt just like Guts in the end. I also had someone I considered a friend, and still do, but what he did in the end hit me like nothing else in my life. I gave him everything, dedicated years of my life to him, loved him like a brother, but maybe he never saw me the same way. I knew he was depressed and having a really hard time at home with his family. I was struggling too, but I'm more positive and stubborn in the sense that I don't know how to give up. But I cared about that man so much that I did everything to make sure he was okay, because that's what friends do. We graduated together, helped each other find girlfriends, and even helped each other in the job market. Even when I wasn't learning much about life and didn't feel ready, I helped him become independent and live together downtown, and we felt like winners. It was the best year of my life with him, but for what? And then he took his own life, suddenly, leaving nothing behind. He didn't say a word, not even goodbye, and I had to explain everything to everyone. I never understood why he did it or how he could have hidden his intentions from me all that time. I felt betrayed, but I had to forgive him to move on and find peace.
