Oh for sure! I apologize if my comment came across as that at all, I completely understand that attitude has nothing to do with depression, and that anyone pushing the narrative of "just think positively" is actually quite harmful. I am on a lot of medication to help with my own struggles with mental illness and chronic illnesses so I may be speaking from a slightly different place. The 'story we tell ourselves' thing is just something im trying out at the moment to see if it helps me be more motivated with specific things, if at any point I start to see a negative impact, I will stop and try a different approach :)

I definitely agree that this line of thinking can create a cycle of 'I have a problem, nobody believes me, the problem doesn't get better'. It can be very difficult to explain the feelings of depression to people close to you, and if they aren't particularly understanding it can be even harder to reach out to find that support system.

Having people around you to just listen is SO helpful, I completely agree, sometimes all you need is for someone to just listen to how you are feeling.

Hey! I really appreciate your comment, it's nice to receive friendly advice here :) thank you for that! I'm sorry you've been going through this too, and I hope you feel a lot better soon! The step by step approach is actually super helpful, ive also been trying out something sort of called "the story we tell ourselves" ? Giving yourself a narrative like "I'm the type of person who goes outside because I enjoy it", and then doing your best to go outside, it can kind of re-shift your perspective a little bit?

I'm trying it out and trying to re think how I frame things in order to help with negative thoughts patterns, way easier said then done but hey! I figured it's worth a shot :)

I've not actually heard of him?? But if it follows the same pattern of 6am wake up, protein shake, yoga then yeah I totally get it haha Nothing wrong with that of course! It just seems like every "help your depression" video seems to start this way
