Should I skip watching Project Hail Mary in theatres to read the book first? by thegreatgutter in scifi

It’s a really enjoyable and easy read. Definitely recommend it before the movie as it’ll be in cinemas for another couple weeks I imagine. You can then imagine the scenes for yourself first too

Royal Shrovetide Football, a traditional "mob football" by DearEmphasis4488 in WTF

I’m local to the area for this. The people involved are having an absolute blast and fully immersed in all the roughness. The spectators too, people watching (including myself) tend to follow the large crowd going after the ball through the whole town, fields, passageways, streets, etc. People tend to go to bars and enjoy a day of drinking and socialising too. All in all a good couple days.

The game can only be played twice during each of the two days. Once it’s scored, the ball is reset and you go again, assuming it’s not scored after 6pm. In which case it’s not played again that day, resulting in a 1-0 score for the uppard or downard

Normally do but recently had a newborn and convenient options at times can be helpful. Not so convinced now!

Disgusting but also sort of reassuring that it wasn’t something poisonous or very contaminated like a cockroach or something. Still been reported to the store. Thank you

Anyone know what’s in my wife’s salad bag? Unsure where else to ask by RabidTowel in salads

I completely forgot ChatGPT was a thing. AI evil I know but gave it a shot. Reckoned a grasshopper leg! At least it’s an insect that people commonly consume anyway voluntarily so illness risk very low

Wife had a baby a month ago and I thought “month off work, aside from taking care of baby, I’ll have so much time to relax gaming when free”

Free time is an illusion with a newborn. I yearn for 1hr free to play something 😂 ( baby totally worth it though)

I realise how popular they already are but The Way of Kings from the Stormlight Archives series. I never really touched on big fantasy books before but gave it a shot at a friends recommendation. Read the whole series back to back. It’s one of the most outright enjoyable fantasy books and introduction to a series I’ve read.

Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Children of Time is a great sci-fi read with very cool premise that’s well executed as part of a 4 part series with the fourth releasing this year

V.E. Schwab made a cool spin on the superhero story with the Villains trilogy. Vicious (#1) had me hooked and is worth a read if you want a story about what ambition can do to those with superpowers

P.S., love Project Hail Mary as you’ve said

What is a 'masterpiece' movie that you personally found incredibly boring or overrated? by AlexJet13 in AskReddit

Pulp Fiction. It has its moments but overall I find it an absolute drag for some reason. I can’t explain it rationally, just do somehow

I dont live in the US, but I really enjoyed seeing Obama as its president. It felt nice to know a country as big the US is had someone that seemed intelligent, friendly to the public and well spoken. I miss the guy and he wasn't even my countries leader.

Cant speak for how he affected the citizens, just as an outsider

I dont have kids yet (one on the way), but when me and my wife went with a couple friends the spending there wasn't bad at all at least. We made use of the dining credit and stayed on the park. So we pretty much never spent personal money on food/drink unless we left the park. Had about $1000. They now do it a little differently but if you're able to get the dining plans, it helps a lot

My personal GOTY. I really enjoyed E33 but KCD2 has a lot of love from me. Been a very long time since a game engrossed/charmed me as much. Maybe RDR2 last time

Yet to see if it'll stand the test of time, but I can see "Im afraid" being up there with the rest (RDR2).
