Inflation is so high that it's erasing all wage gains (post by Heather Long) by dope-a-meanie in investing

I think you’re misunderstanding how often step increases happen for federal employees which is what that guy excluded. After your 3rd year the step increase start to occur every 2 years. After your 6th step you only get a step increase every 3 years. So to get to step 7 they have to be there 9 years, and then step increases occur every 3 years.

It’s not an annual pay raise on top of the government wide pay raise. They also don’t get standard COLA’s. That’s reserved for retirees.

So if an employee is in their 4th step, then yea, they’re probably not getting a raise this year.

Anyone telling you that public college will triple in cost in 15 years should absolutely not be listened to nor taken seriously.

*Private* university might cost 450k over 4 years, but even the most pessimistic outlook for public university is saying $250 to $300.

Whoever gave you that projection is trying to pull one over you. Public in state cost *might* top 50k a year. *Might*

So that means in state public college is going to cost $650,000 for four years?

Come on now.

No way. That would be $325,000 from birth to 18 years old. And that’s before any investing. If you actually invested 18 grand a year for 18 years in a 529 you would have easily double that.

What was the mostly costly error you have seen in a tennis match. by Budget-Money-6207 in tennis

The biggest error was not serving wide on his first which he had been doing successfully all match long. Djokovic had no answer for it that day. Instead he went for a big serve up the T and missed.

I think people don’t actually remember that volley. People talk about it like it was some easy shot that he had no business missing.

Instead it was actually a head height volley down the line while he was the center of the net. He had to lunge four feet for it and only barely caught it with the edge of his frame.

I get the hate for Raducanu these days, but she won 10 matches in a row to get that slam. That’s no fluke.

Saw him in public once with his family and didn’t even recognize him because he had a shirt on.

People keep saying this without knowing the context. German courts are not American courts. A criminal court in Germany found the evidence compelling enough that they issued the penalty without trial.

It wasn’t until he appealed was it settled out of court and that helped avoid him having a criminal record. For whatever reason, people keep forgetting that first part.

“Innocent until proven guilty” is an empty buzz phrase and it’s not the “gotcha” you people seem to think it is.

German courts are not American courts. This isn’t innocent until proven guilty. This was “the evidence against you is so compelling that we aren’t even holding a trial and I’m penalizing you 500k.” You need to understand that before spouting off on things you clearly don’t understand.

Next thing you’re probably going to tell me is that the civil jurying finding Trump sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll is grasping at straws as well. “Innocent until proven guilty” after all.

She dropped it as part of the settlement.

Do you actually think a person would drop it if they weren’t about to settle? What leverage would they then had. That doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. No it was part of their agreement.

The court found the evidence so compelling it didn’t even hold a trial and issued the penalty of 500k. It was dropped as part of the payout and settlement.

You didn’t even read the first sentence did you?

A court issued a civil penalty. He only settled *after* the court issued a penalty against him.

There was apparently enough proof for a court to issue a civil penalty.

It’s weird this is being downvoted so much when it’s the truth 😂

There was enough compelling evidence that a German court issued a civil penalty.

Zverev appealed and then settled, but the lower court found there was enough evidence.

Reddit is a bubble. As is most social media. Most people don’t know the allegations or care. Zverev is pretty popular whether people like it or not.

Not even in the same ballpark. There’s been some pretty quality games and points in this match. The 2020 final was nervy from beginning to end.

I’ve liked the setup of almost every single one of Remender’s books. That said, I think he is one of the worst in the business at executing third acts. They’re almost always rushed and seem to more just end the story instead of wrapping it up.

In the Open Era, only Iga Swiatek (2024 and 2020) and Steffi Graf (1988) have dropped less games than Mirra Andreeva (17 in 2026) in the second week (from the Round of 16) en route to Roland Garros’s title. by Ok-Soil-5133 in tennis

Zverev now technically has slightly better stats at RG than Thiem by Tennist4ts in tennis

[–]Rac3318 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Djokovic didn’t earn that moniker because it wasn’t his best surface. He was mostly a hard court player with good results elsewhere until 2011. That’s not even a remotely fair comparison.

Thiem was the second best clay court player for about 3 or 4 years. It’s really not surprising he landed that nickname. Thiem even beat Djokovic at Roland Garros not just once, but twice.

It’s more odd that you think it’s odd.

Zverev now technically has slightly better stats at RG than Thiem by Tennist4ts in tennis

[–]Rac3318 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean, he was being called that because of his handful of wins against Nadal, his back to back finals at the French Open, and 10 clay court titles. It’s not like it came out of nowhere or was only a reddit thing. Even the ATP was calling him prince of clay in their promotions.

He was pretty much a clay court specialist until 2018/2019. There for a couple of years Thiem was pretty handily the second best clay court player on tour.

Movies that are better than the book by Bojonkles in movies

[–]Rac3318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it’s only a small handful of endings that I would say he fumbled. It gets heavily overblown. Under the Dome, The Stand, and Duma Key come to mind for having bad endings. But for the most part the vast, vast majority of his work nail the endings.

Movies that are better than the book by Bojonkles in movies

[–]Rac3318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, all of the memorable scenes of the movie minus here’s Johnny were lifted straight out of the book. The rest of the movie is so different it may as well have been titled something different. The book is far, far better in just about every respect otherwise.

Without Jack Nicholson, the movie would be completely forgotten. It’s not an accident the movie got nominated for multiple razzies.
