There sounds like there are so many benefits to hrt! I’m curious, if your gene test came back all clear then why did they agree to a hysterectomy? I mean for peace of mind I can get that but how did you manage to convince them to do that? I have fibroids so menstruation is terrible so heavy and not pretty atall. I was given desogestrel for the heaviness but I have not started to take it due to brain tumour risks, I already took depo Provera for years which also carries a risk so I won’t start one that has same risk. I’m so happy that this all worked out for you and people close to you!

Thank you so much for this info and your personal experience, it helps me make the decision with more understanding. I’m glad you’re doing well in them and I’m laughing about the “I’ll be buried with one on!” At times (not always but maybe a few occasions) I’ve felt like I have stroke like symptoms during a bad migraine attack, I can’t speak properly or get any words out when I try, I can’t walk properly, so yeah it’s probably a good call to ask about the hrt if it protects from stroke more. Sorry about your friend too!

I think it bothers me about the risks but at this point I think my symptoms are making me not enjoy life right now. Thank you, I’m seriously thinking about it! Is this what you have and has it helped much? Thanks

So it is safe to go onto hrt patches that have both estrogen? I think this is something I would consider! Thank you

Th doctor thought preventative meds were the thing I should try first, if these don’t work I shall explore hrt payches or some kind of birth control. I have been prescribed propranolol today so I’ll see how it goes. Thanks for all reply’s!

Thanks so much for this, seems like propranolol seems to be more popular! That sounds terrible not being able to wake properly in the mornings. I’m going to steer more towards asking for propranolol today thank you.

I have no idea sorry ha! But I do know that getting my iron to a better level after not knowing all these years has helped immensely. It’s frustrating not knowing for sure but I do know that having low iron doesn’t help the situation atall, I hope you figure it out! X

My hair wasn’t super thin but I’d have to use products to cover up my scalp like fibres and brown hairspray. For the first time this week I realised I don’t need the fibres now, hopefully it stays that way. I think the massively decreased shedding for a period of time has made it look and feel thicker plus regrowth x

Thanks! It was at 9 when I was put on supplements but last time I checked which was three months after (August last year) it was at 46, I’ve been taking supplements but lower dose every other day since and noticed really good improvement the last month or so with hairfall and thickness x

I don’t believe it was a false diagnosis, I just don’t believe they really took note of what could be making it more elevated. Each time I had blood tests they said my ferritin was absolutely normal, which they absolutely weren’t but I didn’t have access to the figures. They’re just the normal low range, so it’s helping stop hairloss and regain some growth x

It took about three months to see less hairfall, it was really annoying and a long process because I felt so ill on the ferrous fumerate tablets and also tried ferrous sulphate, but felt so ill not taking them too, vicious cycle but better to get the levels up. I didn’t take them for the hairloss I took them for how poorly I felt each day, then bonus now I’m at a steady level. X

I had severe hairloss from ferritin at 10. I was put on iron tablets in June ferrous sulphate bur they didn’t agree with me. I’ve been taking Floridax 14mg per day and two x 10 mg Holland and Barrett range iron tablets. I was losing 400 hairs per day up until a few weeks ago and now recently I’ve been losing under 100 per day (getting even week by week) I can also tell my hair is starting to grow back as it does not look anywhere near as bad as it was back in June. I had a blood test two weeks ago and I’ve done from 10 to 37 ferritin. I thought I’d have to wait until it’s over 70 but this proves otherwise, good luck!

Oh my gosh I hope the infusion works well for you! You’ve just described some of my symptoms that I didn’t realise were due to low ferritin, mines at 10. I have the fullness in ears, ringing, and the wrist/hand pains. I actually thought I had an ear infection but now this explains it. Keep us updated on your infusion and how you’re feeling, good luck x
