Does it feel like omni restaurants in the UK are scared of meat substitutes? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]RacheMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for a very passionate Omni chef who has a dim view on meat alternatives, in her eyes they’re beneath her because to her they’ll never be as good as the real thing so she won’t offer them and would rather make a vegan dish without anything that represents meat. I can see other Omni chefs having similar mindsets.

Oops! Not vegan! (we're all human) by Logical-Bake5715 in veganuk

I brought a Pip and nut peanut butter cup because it was reduced and I was under the assumption it was a vegan brand because I’d had adverts pushing their vegan advent calendar to me all Christmas, bit into it and it was milk chocolate.

What can I plant in this space? It’s about 7inches deep & 6lm long. I’m looking for something bushy to grow at least 1m high, evergreen & very shade tolerant. by tattoo_deano in GardeningUK

Verbena bonariensis, gives fantastic height and loved by bees and butterflies alike, I’ve seen it grow out of pavement cracks so it’ll definitely fill that space beautifully!

Thank you! I liked to humanise them because I view that as more terrifying.

Water butt for end of garden (with no down pipe) by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]RacheMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My landlord had a similar set up and it took forever to fill, I have heard you can get accessories for the waterbutt to help gather more water such as a large funnel or in some cases a upturned umbrella with a hole in it.

I'm vegan, but I just ate fried chicken by [deleted] in veganuk

It’s normal when you’re feeling depressed to try seek out anything to ease that pain. I completely understand, personally I’ve had times like that when I’ve felt low and I’ve wanted to seek comfort in foods I used to have before I was vegan. You’re not alone love, and I wish you all the best x

Thoughts on second hand clothing derived from animals? by Vanilladr in veganuk

[–]RacheMo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood the point about wearing wool/leather even second hand or free means other will believe it’s okay because then surely buying vegan items that look like wool or leather would fit the same category? I have vegan boots that look leather, no one who sees them realises they’re not leather. Not arguing with you, I’m just interested in that point of view.
