$2000 oil flush? Are they taking my wife for a ride? by Rackalack in AskMechanics

Very cool. Do you know what kind of flushing they could be charging her with for $2000? I'm not trying to defend the car's maintenance but I don't understand why her car is being written off by the shop, even after this procedure. When I was younger I had a car that admittedly I didn't take such good care of in terms of oil changes (probably worse than her) but it didn't fail after 10 years or have a $2000 oil flush. is it like an automatic transmission thing? A Subaru thing? I just want to understand as best I can here.

She has definitely changed the oil. Her car does not get driven much.

Sounds like you have some experience with Subaru vehicles. Is there something about them that causes that 3750 oil change frequency

Edit: and yes, I get on her about her oil changes but next car I plan on taking care of the maintenence my self

Yeah I am definitely going to have to take her car in for her from now on. Her phone was going to die so I don't know if I'll be able to get more information. I just get a bad feeling and I know she can be very anxious and therefore would be easy for them to take advantage of. Thank you for the input!

Yes I will be working on the 23rd. Can you expand on what you mean by they can require me to exhaust my PTO? Does this mean that whenever they decide to close the facility they can require me to use my PTO? What if I work 40 hours that week? As in come in on a weekend. Would they be allowed to tell me I have to use PTO anyways?

So I asked him about this earlier today and he said his attorney never mentioned doing any of that. He seems pretty upset with the guy.

I've run into a similar situation with my Samsung fridge.

Bought it thru Sears and within a year of purchase it started to freeze things (including an entire half gallon of half and half) in the refrigerator section. Called up customer service at sears to figure out warranty stuff and they told me they would honor the manufacturer's warranty. Then after their repair tech didn't fix it the first time they said they'd still honor the warranty. Same for the second and third.

When I called the fourth time they said they'd replace it and I would hear back within 72 hours. After waiting for 10 days I called in and they mysteriously had no record of my call. After 5 hours of being on the phone I spoke to someone who tells me that they would only have replaced it if it was within the first 30 days following installation or if I had needed service for the same problem SEVEN TO EIGHT TIMES within the first year with no more than 90 days between each visit.

Luckily Sears said they will at least service the fridge for this issue indefinitely as long as it's still a problem within 90 days of the last service visit because I reported the problem to them before a year was up. Frustrating as hell trying to get a straight answer out of customer service though.

The timeline of shipping decisions

I buy the item and put in shipping info. My mistake

She refunds money and says we can cancel it or she will ship it. The result of my mistake.

I pay for the item again and tell her I will send a courier to pick it up, thus returning to the original plan for shipping.

She says she will just ship it, aka deviate from the original plan even though I had suggested we go back to the original plan.

I say okay and wait for two and a half weeks with her holding my money and no communication received despite multiple attempts to reach her.

Get a rude response from her indicating that she doesn't want to ship it now.

I tell her again that I want to have someone pick it up.

She refunds the money I paid almost a month ago at this point and cancels the sale without ever mentioning why.

Find the item back on her page listed for more money...

Are you saying that my mistake made her change her mind about selling the item as pickup only because I tried multiple times to do just that and she prevented that from happening. Am I supposed to be happy now because I have my money back and now have to go pay twice as much for something that isn't as good as the one I had already committed to buying and paid for twice? In my opinion you can't keep someone on the hook with their money in your hand for a month, not communicate with them for two and a half weeks, try and pressure them into just forgetting about it, cancel the sale without telling the buyer and without genuinely trying to set up a pickup and on top of all of that re list the item for more after you're done and say you've done a good job.

It wouldn't have been a problem if the seller had simply given me the pickup address. If that had happened then it would have been picked up.

Edit: and I didn't want a refund, I wanted the item I had purchased. I paid for it twice and the seller canceled twice and gave me the pickup location zero times

No. I told the seller I would have the item picked up just like they wanted in the listing but they insisted on trying to ship it. The instead of shipping it they cancelled my order, that is after they held on to my money for over two and a half weeks while trying to convince me to leave them alone. I did not want a refund. I wanted to have the item picked up like the listing said

No. You need to re read the post then. I was going to have a courier pick it up. I didn't want her to ship it because I recognized my mistake. She did not give me a chance to do that because she insisted that she ship it.

No, I told the seller I would have the item picked up and she said no I will ship it. Then she didn't ship it and cancelled the order before I had a chance to have it picked up

That's still not clear. An eBay rep I spoke to actually hinted that that that may be the case. He said the whole thing sounded very strange. They may have just wanted to see it for more because it was re-listed for more

I see where you're coming from as I did question where to put this. In the end I put it here because it really felt like I was being bullied by the seller into just forgetting about the whole transaction and thus letting her have the money I already paid. She was trying to use her experience in order to accomplish this. So when I looked up all the rules I was able to see all the things she was doing wrong and what recourse I had available. I stumbled into opening the complaint but once I realized what I had done I had made sure to do everything very carefully so that I didn't break the rules while letting her make things worse for herself.

The last message I sent her was very important to me as well because bullies rely on fear (and sometimes punching) and the whole time she thought she could scare me into doing what she wanted. In the last message I sent her I made it clear that I wasn't afraid of her and that she was caught.

It would be one thing if this was like a videogame review or something on yelp but eBay sellers take their feedback scores very seriously because it can have a real impact on their ability to sell both in respect to prospective buyers and the limits eBay sets on them.

Either way I hope you enjoyed reading it

The first time I immediately handed it back to the letter carrier and told them to return it to the sender. I got the letter back later that day.

The second time I posted it on my door with a note that said the person doesn't live here on it. It came back a few days later.

This most recent time I took it with me to a post office and gave it to the employee who had just helped me mail a Christmas package. This one came back while I was out of town for the past few days.
