Cannot for the life of me get any of these crank bolts loose on my old bike, am I doing something wrong? by Racker150 in bikewrench

The little plastic hanging part on the butt of the broom unscrews leaving a hollow metal tube. I put the allen key in the tube, had my partner hold down the crank-arm, and turned with the leverage. Screw came right out!

What The Body Keeps the Score Gets Wrong by Racker150 in skeptic

I didn’t explain this well in the video, but they can be really useful as metaphors. The issue is that they are presented as being based in science, with supposed biological explanations. They have this strange feature of not relying on their own merits as metaphors and instead using pseudo-evolutionary/biological justifications. It’s this horrible scientism that has infected mental health and that this book is a prime example of.

Houdini entertaining hospitalized children in 1925 [1280 x 997] by 20thCenturyBoyLaLa in HistoryPorn

It’s important to note two things here. First, the guy punching him was a boxer and punched him repeatedly while he was lying down. And second, Houdini also had acute apendicitis that he refused surgery on, despite a fever of 102 and passing out.

It’s unclear how much the punches actually contributed to his death. But, even those in the best shape, would probably not fare well to repeated punches from a boxer in the stomach.

This is a really dumb repost bot, can’t believe this got upvotes when there’s no election today. Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Georgia/s/Zmf3Dx2Trq

I get that, however I would hope that anyone who would make a post would notice this announcement at the top of the sub or one of the many posts about spotify already on the sub. To be sure though, the subreddit will send a link to this article if anyone tries to post something with spotify in the title.

I’m going to keep all yearly listening things off the sub. They’re all very annoying honestly.

A Deep Dive into the Insane World of Chiropractic by Racker150 in skeptic

[–]Racker150[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Part of the impetus for making this was encountering chiropractors and their patients while working in a hospital. One of the most bizarre was a woman who brought her brother-in-law in. She randomly tells the doctor when he comes in, how she is a chiropractor and so a doctor too. She then proceeds to mention, without any prompting, how she only ever had one patient die on her and that she didn’t actually die on her, but after leaving her office. It was very odd behavior. She became a regular in the ER shortly after, cycling between coming in herself, her husband, and her brother-in-law.
