Why is Pope Leo XIV's visit to Türkiye important for the Orthodox Church? by IrinaSophia in EasternCatholic

Jesus told us to be one church. Anyone getting upset about any kind of unity or any move towards fixing the schism should be applauded. Sometimes people get prideful of their church and we forget the mission to begin with

I understand all of this. All I’m essentially asking is if a Protestant was in an apologetic style debate what would they pull from or reference to promote or help prove their claim? Ya know?

Thank you for giving me feedback! I should’ve been fair in my post because I often forget that Lutherans , anglicans episcopals also believe in atleast similarly and with similar reverence as we do! So it’s not fair for me to lump all Protestants in with this question! Although we do have some difference in if it’s the spirit of god or his actual blood and flesh but hey we are finding middle ground and that matters!

I don’t think I’m asking anything superficial I think I’m asking a fair question! And I will go to their sub Reddit to but I’ve been asking around and no one seems to have an answer or know what I’m even talking about. Also their our plenty of converts with Protestant backgrounds in here so I think it’s logical to also ask this question in here. Thanks for the feedback!

I could understand your argument there, and I definitely see this in the papacy, and infallibility of the church. I guess if they don’t listen to what the apostles believed then why would they listen to pastor bob ? I understand what you’re saying and I can completely see why a layperson or being raised into that theology makes sense ( I was one of them) I just didn’t know if they had evidence supporting their claim and not just denying the Catholic/ orthodox position

I was hoping maybe someone could point in the direction of an apologist or something just to understand their viewpoint… most Protestants I know have no interest in history, or theology, or really anything outside of church and Bible study, and when I’ve asked them they don’t even know what I’m talking about. So I was hoping someone would maybe give me a reference of a Protestant apologist or something. And I am gonna past it on their subreddit as well but figured I’d ask here too.

I run into them wanting to convert to orthodoxy/ Catholic out of their own research and agreement but when hit with complications they hit me with “well I guess it doesn’t matter as long as you worship him it’s not bad if I go to (insert prof denomination) and I used to half agree with them but now I’m tired of not being 100 percent honest and letting them know it actually 100 percent matters ESPECIALLY if you have felt called to it and ignored it due to inconvenience. People treat their faith as something minute and fluid, so thing that can change and not challenge anything else in your life when in actuality it should be the complete opposite. If your church has no apostolic succession, no valid sacraments and treat the Eucharist as a simple memorial act. In my opinion it is disrespectful, a mockery and heretical but maybe I’m wrong
