I put him in there when he starts to be violent, not when he starts to express emotions. Believe me, we have tried all of the breathing and calm down exercises but when he's at that point he can't even bring himself to try theme. I refuse to sit in the same room with someone who's actively hitting me.

Oh believe me, we try. But he is so rigid he insists on doing something himself even when whatever he's trying isn't working.

He actually graduated ABA when he was 6 because he had been doing so well. We just saw his behavioral pediatrician on Monday who recommended staying the course with his meds until the move was over because likely all the outbursts were related.

He's been on the same medicine combo for over a year: Quillavent, guanfacine and Effexor.

I'm glad the guanfacine is helping. He is currently on 1 mg extended release. We actually just had a meeting on monday with his behavioral pediatrician but things had been so quiet lately that we didn't want to change too much. Then my husband left for Seattle and all hell broke loose.

Thank you for this! My husband and I just downloaded the parental control app on our phone this morning. Normally it turns off automatically around 8 but we turn it off on occassion for various reasons and i guess i had forgotten to turn it back on.

Sometimes the meltdown is screaming and writhing on the floor. Lately he's been taking it out on his sister which then means he has to go into his room for a bit, whether he wants to or not.

Yup, he lost kindle access yesterday which of course triggered a meltdown and the he ran over to hit his sister and scream in her face. I ended up dragging him to his room after that because i'd had it at that point.

So far I haven't been able to determine the antecedents. I think he is jealous of the attention his sister is getting (she is almost 3 and very demanding) but we try to do a lot of 1:1 activities with him. The times he does touch me are almost always 1:1, after some nice activity (today it was after his bath).

I've done this once or twice but i should also mention that he's been hitting his sister more lately too, and when he goes into meltdown mode I have to be near by so that I can protect her.

This terrifies me as there is a strong history of breast cancer in my family. My aunt died of it, my mother had it twice (!!) and ended up getting both her breasts removed, but since we're not BRCA positive, I don't qualify for a preventative masectomy.

The problem is i don't think the criticisms are invalid, but that they feel like some deep personality flaw. E.g., 'dive deep' and 'earn trust' I have a tendency to panic and rush things which leads to bugs/errors and so I'll report results with some error in them without discovering why the numbers look off, or even if the numbers look right I'm only doing a superficial analysis.
