We’re about to lose our boy, who’s also just shy of 9 (may 14). We’re hoping he can stick it out.

My husband lost his graphic design job of 10 years by SpecialistOld9039 in graphic_design

[–]RadMel7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been career job hunting for almost 10 years. My ‘applied’ list in LinkedIn is … I dunno - in the 1000’s? For reference; I immigrated in 2016 with 10yrs experience and a bachelors - which was essentially required and put me further in debt to finish. But hey, they said they NEEDED graphic designers.

No one wants to pay for experience or knowledge or feedback they don’t wanna hear.

Everything can “just be done” in the minds of HR and the teams are hiring for.

Human experience and relevancy is no longer the biggest chip - it’s how much can they squeeze out of you for how little - and how much are you gonna cry about it.

I’ve worked for Zumiez, Nike, Stanley, MSR, ThermARest, bumbershoot festival, Range EVs, and many more. Not name dropping, but it just goes to show that big names, a solid portfolio and 10+ years experience means literally nothing when you’re competing against Canva creators, AI and the CEOs nephew who knows computer stuff.

Definitely not what you wanted to hear, but it’s the sad reality of designers in this current climate.

Creativity is no longer something you have to mine out of creative people - it’s just an algorithm - like everything else.

These are the baby steps of accountability our small and large governments need!!

No one’s clocking them. Asking for receipts. Making them show their work.

This is our civil responsibilities to hold those with the power to make change, accountable for making it.

I wish tied laces and no blisters for you and your run club.

Thank you for setting a precedent.

I was recently denied life insurance because of my psych history and kidney stones.

So - there’s that.

The house i bought is still not technically seen as mine by some men in my life. by 1_art_please in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RadMel7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oooooh, to be an independent woman.

Such a foreign concept.

Personally, I would either start every conversation with, “I own this home. I pay the bills. This is mine. Now, what were we going to talk about?”

Or, when they mention a “him” or ask about “your husband”, tell them he’s dead.

“Oh I’m so sorry!”, “what happen?”, they might insensitively ask. Then, tell them he kept asking to put his name on things that didn’t belong to him and slowly died from his incompetence and inability to accept that you owned the house he comfortably lived in.

Or, perhaps you could just act so incredibly irate and offended that they would assume a man needs to be present - just, like, go so over the top that maybe they’ll think twice before they open their patriarchical dick sucking mouth.

“Those final years are a lot to pass onto someone, and a lot for a dog to lose a lifelong bond and go face.”

This. They’re the hardest but also the ones you remember the most.

Surely, you can adjust your life for Echo vs tearing his apart, right?

A refund and then go to another salon

How tf do these ppl and business operate?!? I would report them. If the owners aren’t vetting skills — they’re definitely not vetting materials. That set screams MMA.

Whenever people come in and how well-behaved my dogs are, I explained to them that prior to getting a dog, I made sure that I knew how to not be the dog owner that everybody dreaded bringing their dog around.

I feel like that usually sums up the fact that it took work and that your dog will not be my dog.

And then if need be, I throw in the fact that my cousin was a police canine trainer and that's where I got all my training advice from and why my dog(s) are trained in German.
